This will be the vics 11th year with no exterior changes!
I do believe that is an automotive record. GMC Safari / Chrevrolet Astro... 20 years with the same tail lights, *almost* same body (stretched version became standard), same doors, same bumpers, same roof track, same mirrors... If you REALLY love your old astro, you could own a '85 Astro and buy a 2005 for parts :-) Everything could be swapped. I learned to drive in a 92 Safari. Cool because RWD.
Wow, ok you got me there. Maybe some of the guys responsible for that decision (or lack of) are now in charge of the CV at ford.
Still, I dont think I would ever buy any panther newer than 2003. There just arent any changes since then that justify spending the extra money IMHO.
Getting a little off topic, but what were the changes for the 2001 MY that bumped the HP rating up a bit?

You've got to be freaking kidding me! REDESIGN its a little overdue I thought they were going to refresh it a bit.
The Grand Marquis get the refreshs. Its the only one comsumers
buy. Face it, the CV is a fleet car and my vote still says no
refresh berfore the axe.

Yeah, it might be a fleet car, but the Grand Marquis is an elderly vehicle.
I'll take a taxi (Crown Vic) or a limo (Town Car).

The order guide access is in the right hand column under vehicle links on the ford police interceptor main page. You have to be logged in to the fleet website for that option to even show up in the vehicle link list. I already tried to post a link to the order guide here but the fleet site has some security barriers that prevented me from making that happen. So open the order guide and do a Save As.
I dont understand why Ford keep this stuff "close to the vest." If thats the case, they should keep a CVPI's window sticker in the glove box, out of sight so people wont know whats in that CVPI.

The 3rd generation Impala/Caprice was made from 1977-1990, there was a big refresh in 1980, so it was basically unchanged from 1980-1990, although there was a very minor refresh (maybe just different headlights) in 1986.

in 87-90 they went from 2 headlight appearance to 1 rectangle light with 2 seperate bulbs (low/high ====== high/low)
tail lights got a similar cleaned up refresh as well. 86 still had the sperate lights for low and high

Yeah that would make sense, I guess I'm going to stick with the Mercury lineup.
