Hello Everyone,
I am a new member to the forums and I just had a question about installing an in-dash dvd player, but I can't find the answer anywhere. My question is: I would like to install an in-dash dvd player (Dual Brand XDVD8181) in my 99'Crown Vic, but the dash board will not let the screen flip up completely. Is there anyway to get around this problem? Thanks for your time...

Which installation kit did you use to install it?(i.e. American International, Metra, Scosche)?
I seem to remember some stick out more than others, which may help.
Also, did you install it in the upper or the lower portion of the kit? If the upper, maybe try it in the lower part of the kit.

I remember seeing somewhere a person switched there flip out to where the AC control panel is at and move the AC up to the top... But I imagine that is really difficult to do, but i don't know much about it. Only other option is to get a tv that doesn't flip out and is a 2din lcd tv. You could also cut your dash, but I doubt anyone would want to cut into their dash just for a tv...

i did. it was easy. once you pull the radio out there is a black plastic area/plate it sits on. you need to cut that out so you can put the cables/wires from the AC area in there. i did it one night in the parking lot of Target while i was waiting for my girlfriend to finish shopping.

you might still have a problem with it on the bottom....

the AC is set back from the opening as well,AND it has to angle even farther back to be visible to driver/passenger...

yup. sure did. it was all too tight in there and it kept sliding out. one of the things on the list to fix but it works for now. technos is a nice clean install. but yeah i did it in a parking lot.

the irony of it all is that behind where the stock radio goes is the piping for my AC and it had some condensation on it and it was right next to the back of my head unit. seems like they should have covered it with something. but its a ford not a bmw.

Umm... not really...

take out the radio, and HVAC vacuum lines + wiring, run the vacuum lines up to where the radio is (pretty easy) and run the radio wires down where the HVAC controls are (also easy, it's a long cable).. you have to TRIM the edges of the HVAC housing, where the screw holes are, and a little bit more, but mine fit PERFECTLY in the scosche stereo install kit from wallymart...
