If you swap the entire differential housing, everything will fit except the E-Brake cable that will need custom work. I think the brake lines will need light mods also. Not sure.

If you want to swap only the disc brakes without swapping the entire housing, I'm not sure if that's possible ?? If it is, you will at least have to remove both axles in ordere to swap the backplates.

you can install the entire rear end, but if the car has been sitting for any length time, its best to inspect bearings and spider gears for wear and pitting. axles are notorious for pitting on these cars.
if you want just the rear disc parts, it does require you remove the axles to un-bolt the backing plates from the axle tube.

rear brake lines on rear disc cars are different from cars with rear drum. the fitting on the brake line that attaches the line to the rear caliper hose is also different, you will need to cut the brake line and get the fitting off the rear disc car.
I cut my stock hard lines, installed the correct fittng and reflared the line, then zip tied the rear caliper hoses to the axle tube.

E-brake cables are also different on rear disc cars. I bought cables for a 93 CV to put on, both rears and the intermediate cable. had to cut my stock front cable and use some clamps to hold it together.

What years are whole axles interchangeable? I know where I can get a Town Car axle complete w/brakes but I'm not sure what year-looks like a 98-00

when you say axle, you mean the axle shaft or the entire differential assembly?

axle shafts are pretty much interchangeable, only difference is the ABS cars have a tone ring for the sensor.

On the diff assembly, 92-97 will bolt in. 98-02 uses a watts linkage and will not bolt in.

when i did rear disc on my car i used the rear brake line assembly off the newer car and just added a connector.

the rear drum lines ran along the axle, the newer ones run across the fram and use a soft line to the calipers. the lines are long enough that they are not stressed with the axle at full droop
