I've been viewing videos, reading about exhaust setups. I'm in the same boat, I want something that I can hear, but not enough to get me a ticket. I don't want to spend a ton of money yet on the exhaust. I believe I'm going to install two of these: Link I like my car quiet, it's whisper quiet. I would like it loud once in awhile on the highway for a minute more or less. I really couldn't see myself dishing out tons of money and getting stuck with a loud exhaust. The idea is just not feasible for where I live, I would be getting tickets everyday, maybe more than one per.

Ive always wondered if those exhaust cutouts hurt your flow cause its basically a dead end for the exhaust (flow killer) when its closed.

Redirect it with y pipes if that's what their called, maybe even before the cats.  I would have the small pipes facing outward and they would have the dumps on them. The exhaust will be stock when in the closed position.

Ahh ok, also I think if you redirect before the cats youll be up near the firewall and may get exhaust fumes in your car unless you run a pipe down and out?

That's probably the best solution run pipes out the side of the car diagonally. Definitely don't want carbon monoxide and other lovely smelling things coming into the cabin.

Flowmasters sound the best IMHO.But the are the WoRSt flowing mufflers due to those chambers that make them sound so nice.Most people dont notice much on their DD's though.BUT there is a company ( is it magnaflow ? ) That actually has Stainless steel mufflers not Aluminized coatings.They will last longer. I wanted to get some feedback from you guys as to what mufflers sound good on the 4.6 ? I was looking at just replacing the stock mufflers with some aftermarket mufflers and keep the existing stock tailpipes. I like the hidden exhaust pipe look more then the big chrome tips. I want a muffler thats got a nice sound, but I don't want to get pulled over for loud exhaust.
Also anybody got some dimension on the stock mufflers? Or part numbers that are a direct fit?

I have Magnaflow cat back system on my Dodge Charger Super Bee with the 6.1L Hemi and my Chrysler Aspen with the 5.7L Hemi and they both sound great. On my 2004 Ford C.V.P.I., I put Flowtech's (Made by the Hooker Header Corporation) and they sound good, probably equalivant to Blowmaster Series 40 mufflers from what I read on this forum at half the cost. Unfortunately, the Flowtech's are shorter and a 5" extension pipe has to be welded on each muffler. Some "Direct Size" replacement muffler part numbers for you: Blowmaster Series 40 Delta: 942041 Dynomax Ultra Flo: 17514 Magnaflow: 11224 Flowtech: 50320 (Have to weld 5" extensions on one end)

I got Magnaflows with the MM tips with resonator delete. The mufflers are a bolt in replacement for the stock ones with no mods I believe. From what I can tell, Boberts sounds almost just like mine. But best sounding muffler is purely opinion, I go with the Magnaflows.

I bought my Flowmaster Super 40s without doing any research on them and couldn't be happier. The car starts up with a nice growl, settling into a smooth, burbly idle... quite aggressive. Even with the 3.55s the interior resonance is perfectly bearable.  That sounds really nice. What is there exactly to your exhaust setup? is it stock to the cats? or? I see in your sig 2.25"
