Can anyone tell me what this is? The box with the red button and the ground wire going to the trunk lid? I'm pretty sure it's the fuel pump reset button? What is the purpose of a reset button? What If I push it just because? I have an Idea in mind but I don't want to embarrass myself before I say something? I do know it's not the ejector seat button. Thanks!

Fuel pump inertia switch reset button. The inertia switch is literally a ball in a cup that bumps into a lever, when in an accident. Pushing the button resets the lever. No need to push it unless you're not getting power to the pump. Pushing it otherwise won't hurt the car, unless you push too hard and break it

Is that in a box? Cuz mine looked a little different... they used a couple different styles.

Yeah mine looked different too, but I surmised it couldn't be the air ride on/off, because that's an on-off switch.

The ground wire is part of some fleet wiring that adds extra grounds to the hood and trunk to keep things happy with two-way radios.

Thanks everyone for the replies, that's what I figured it was. So the ground wire I don't really need for the reset button to work? I was thinking about replacing it in case I ever need to use that button.
There's an identical ground wire on the same location on the other side of the trunk lid.
Thanks!
