Can anyone confirm if there was a year where certain P71's or "straight to taxicabs" Crown Vic's came in a Long wheelbase model? I keep hearing this and so when I went to my local Ford dealer looking for OEM floor mats they asked me if I had the LWB version. I said I didnt think so. Anyone have a pic of one?

the different floormats would only make a difference in the back seat. you would be able to tell by the larger rear doors.

LWB Vics have a separate model code. "P70"
Its P70 even if it has a police package.

If yours is a P71 its not a LWB CV.
P70s are available 2002 and up.

this is from wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt

In 2002, Ford introduced a long-wheelbase version of the Crown Victoria, available only to commercial fleets (mostly used by taxi companies). This version gives 6 extra inches of wheelbase length, made possible by a new frame and extended body. This version is not available to the general public, nor is there a stretched version of the Police Interceptor although there was a special service version available for the Police Market from 2002-2006 and it also had a street appearance trim option from 2002-2004, due to its targeted use mostly in the taxi and livery market. In the Middle East, long-wheelbase versions of both the Mercury Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria are available to the general public.

Standard Crown Vics have amazingly little rear seat legroom. How do cops even fit big people into the back of a car with a cage?

Ive noticed that on the earlier Vics, the rear seems to look larger. On the brand new ones, there is barely any space.
I blame the front seats. They keep getting thicker and thicker. On my old 94 p71, there was alot of rear seat room cause the front seats were so thin.

i was put in the back of a police CV with a cage once, there is very little room, i had trouble getting my legs in and out.

a little side note, i was not arrested, i was being questioned about an event, not in any trouble.

Nowadays, the police remove the factory back seat and use a plastic setup.

i was in the back, no cuffs or anything just getting a ride to the station to fill out paperwork. im 6-3or4 275 and even dough it was a little hard getting in and out, it was actually really comfortable. might not be a bad idea since i dont think you want the guy to have too much room back there kicking the back of your cage lol.

sideways

if you think the back of a CV is small you should see the back of a charger+partition.

My friend's Honda Accord has a ton more rear leg room.

I wish they had offered a lwb civilian vic or, wishful thinking, lwb MM. Any friends that get in the back of my MM, the few times I have passengers, they complain about the leg room.
