I only wish there was a true CAI - today, high of 55F, my IA temp was around 170F . . . on the freeway in (strange for here) no traffic at 75MPH. Must have something to do with compressing air or something like that.

Tucker, you're still missing what we're trying to say. Just about any car will pull great numbers on the track. It does that cuz its doing 80 mph so it's getting enough air to move hot air out of the engine compartment. Not everyone here does track time and the experience has been that CAI's around town bog down the cars from stagnant hot air. The fender well kits you have on other stuff are ideal for situations like this but just can't be done on these cars. If you can close the open element filter, I guarantee you will have alot of happy people on here.

Wow, I just went back and read the posts since I stopped coming here. 1) Jerry W from SCT is one of the best in the world 2) Chris J owner of SCT is also one of the best in the world 3) 170 IAT's while driving? That wouldn't happen with a large "shielded" filter. See above post and videos.
I see there are not many supporting vendors here at CV.net and I can see why. That's a shame as I would love to become one and help you all get better prices on your SCT tuners and other parts I can.
Have a good day.

see this is i guess from reading above when stating yea it gets great air temps at the track...
but then someone says not everyone here goes to the track...
then let me ask this. cuz this is good.
ISNT the main reason to put performance parts on a vehicle is to make more power and tq?? and to make it go faster?
and also to make it down the track faster???
AND IF ur not planning on racing or planning on going faster. and ur just doing this just cuz ya want performance parts on ur car that you drive every day threw traffic all year round.
THEN WHY BOTHER EVEN PUTTING PERFORMANCE PARTS ON UR CAR.
useing a excuse of well i want to change lanes faster on the highway. i want to get up to speed faster on a freeway onramp. etc.
THATS SO MUCH BS ITS NOT FUNNY. if thats the case its like these old people who by mustang gts and trans ams and gtos and mustang cobras just to drive them. and they never race them or do anything with them they were built for.
SO 1 THIS IS A GOOD KIT FOR THE TRACK. TO GAIN SOME POWER GO FASTER AND A LITTLE EXTRA SOUND.
2 IN NORMAL DAY TO DAY DRVING YOU WILL PROLLY NEVER BENIFIT FROM ANY OF THIS.
3 SO YOU MINDS WELL LEAVE UR VEHICLE STOCK AND BUY SOMETHING YOU PLAN ON MODDING TO HAVE SOME FUN AND RACE IN.
SO FOER ME THIS IS A GREAT KIT. GAIN SOME POWER AND TQ AND MAKE IT DOWN THE TRACK JUST THAT MUCH FASTER WEATHER ITS LIKE .023 FASTER. ITS SOMETHING AND THATS WHAT COUNTS.
SO FOR THIS COMPANY TO DO SOMETHING THATS NEVER BEEN DONE HERE. I GIVE THEM PROPS and good job guys. its a great kit.
and for those who want that day to day garbage then go spend ur 600 bucks on the MZT and get on with ur life. 90 percent of all aftermarket kits ARE NOT I REPEAT ARE NOT enclosed in a damn air box. all ur doing with the mzt is takeing a FACTORY FORD PART from another car and slapping it on urs. and making this seem like a gigantic huge inprovment thing and its the best out their.
next you guys will be compplaining how on turbo cars they air filter needs to be takin out of the engine bay from the tubo and slapped somewere on the fender in a enclosed air box.
get a life and move on. they did a us a favor and took their time and money to create something. i personally would buy this if i had the cash. but i dont.
cuz i personally dont see any reason to buy the mm stuff when all ur doing is going from one stock part to a sumwhat nicer stock part thats all. and for 600 bucks it ant damn worth it.
id rather run a peace of pvc tubbing and say look i got a cold air intake tube with a filter on the end..
sop the chances of these guys ever doing something like this for us again are prolly slim to non. as its been stated we dont have many supporters on this site. and i wonder why.
TO YOU JLT great stuff i know people who use lots of it. and this is a nice decent kit. i would love to test it myself some time if i ever get the money.

I welcome anyone to test any of our products. Just do it correct and fair. Keep coolant temps the same by data logging and do all testing the same day in the same conditions. Track testing is tough, too many variables with no changes to the car. That's why we dyno test. We can without a shadow of a doubt show you the power is their, it's up to you to get it to the ground.
I went through this BS on MM.net when the Marauder kit first came out. They liked the K&N and dyno tested it to gain only 5 RWHP. I spoke up and offered a free kit to anyone willing to do a fair before and after dyno test. Well, it happened, they say 10-12 RWHP and we've sold hundreds. Go ask them what they think of JLT. Sorry, but with all the negitivity around here, that offer won't happen. I spent amost a full day testing, driving, videoing, posting and hosting videos for a $129. kit. Why? I hate being called a lier!!!!!!!!
The MM is the same dam car as your CV/GM/TC's and our shielded filter kit works great for all of them.
Thanks for the comments and all the pm's.

Tucker,
I will gladly test your intake. I've already been banned from here once for going against the "norm". I will do a dyno test back-to-back-to-back with the stock 01 CVPI airbox, the K&N FIPK GenII, and your kit, and post the results for all to see. I can also do drag testing same-day at Portland International Raceway, keeping conditions as identical as humanly possible.
My car already has a Superchips tune and a custom cat-back and ran 15.1 first pass out, far faster then the "standard" MZT/random mods guys here. I will gladly forward you copies of everything, including IAT logs, dyno sheets, and timeslips. I'm 100% serious about this, and since I'm not in the "Panthers don't follow the laws of Physics!!1!1!!" crowd I can actually be fair and un-biased.
Seriously, shoot me a PM or email.
Michael

Ok, Jony needs to relax.
Cars that drive well at the track DONT drive well in everyday applications. Some, probably a good portion, but I wont speculate numbers, only have this as there one car. If it becomes only a track monster, odds are it drives like crap around town or on the highway. People are here looking for the best of both worlds cuz they like driving their car everywhere not JUST at the track. We love the car, not the racing. Thats a bonus if we can get it to run well at the track. We like the idea of a big comfy car that will get out of its own way on the highway and around town.
Then again, why should anyone have to explain themselves to you. It's their car and they can do what they want with it. If you like the track, bully for you. Most people on here don't solely drive at the track.
The product I'm sure does exactly what is said, I'm just offering an opinion that may possibly improve it. People have done CAI's on here and those are the opinions that have been formed. If you want to carve your own little niche in that area, doing what's suggested or at least testing it, may prove the customer right. If it makes no difference, then your product continues unharmed. If it does, you've gained the trust of an entire board cuz you've shown you want to give them a great product.
Either way, all I'm offering is an opinion on this subject, take it or leave it. Just my .02.

Well, I will give some input soon running a partial JLT setup with the MM MAF and '04 zip tube. Luckily I had the Marauder air box from my Marauder, got the MAF cheap from a fellow Marauder owner, and got the zip tube cheap, too (thanks Chris). I have about $80 in those parts and then the XCal2 with 1 tune from Lonnie.
I don't care if I gained 1 horsepower with that setup as driveability alone is MUCH better and worth the cost. Same thing when I did the XCal2 and JLT intake on the Marauder. Ford does NOT know how to tune the tranny shifting on these cars.
Anyway, last year I had ordered a second air filter for the JLT on the Marauder so I could run 1 in the winter and 1 the rest of the year. Well, now that I have the CVPI the Marauder is not seeing the winter so I have a spare filter sitting around.
I am going to use that filter with the 80-90MM adapter plate and the Marauder heat shield and make my own setup. And the Marauder air box will go back in storage. This is not a "kit" in any way. I am doing this on my own and ordered the parts separately from the site here:
http://jlttruecoldair.com/zencart/index....0c321ad129d842b
I will post pictures and impressions once I receive the parts and get them installed (will need to clean the engine compartment before I get pictures - rough winter around here). So there is the potential of putting your own "kit" together if you have the Marauder MAF already. I will let you all know how it goes when I get it done.

Jony lol
The reason people switch from one "stock part to another" is because the top lid is designed for better airflow and it includes a 80mm MAF also most people that switch get a 93 tune (I did) and believe me the car is WAY more drivable in town.
Why would you want to only gain power at the track (not biased towards jlt or mm airbox) but in my opinion I want power all around weather its at the track 2-4x a year or on the streets.
This is one reason why most of us that choose (between a cai and mm airbox) picked what they did, because they appreciate all around performance
I hope darrin gets his plan all setup as I would love to see an unbiased dyno on a car that was 100% stock until the JLT (sorry tucker but you do own JLT and not to call you a lier but you have your own self interests)
