For those of you wondering why they would use stock PI heads over ported non-PI heads, it wasn't for the price. They only used stock PI heads (with other mods) for "stage1 and 2" making 313.6 HP and 315.1 LB-FT. Stage 3 only consisted of swapping to PORTED PI HEADS! with 46mm SI valves bumping power up to 346.1 HP and 341.2 LB-FT. I don't think price was an issue either cuz those ported PI heads cost them $1,199.99!

The other reason they used the PI heads was because of Edelbrock. The carb intake they used was designed for the PI heads.

The stage 1 set up sounds very interesting. Can you bolt up an old AOD transmission to that set up and avoid a computer all to togather or would you be stuck using a manual?
