My 06 CVPI has 12xxx miles on it. Today when I got to work, my car "jerked" (sort of like a hard shift) and then the wrench (Powertrain malfunction indicator) came on. How do I read this? Do I need to go to the dealership? I have noticed some abnormal drive in the car lately, like hard shifts, etc.

Thanks for the help.

You need to hook up a code reader to read the code. The code will help lead you to the problem and solution.

Can I use an OBD-II reader for this? Remember, this isnt a CEL.

Why bother? It's under warranty, let the dealership mess with it.

ditto.. knowing the code makes it easier to tell the occasional dealer service writer who just wnats you off the premises that there is indeed a warranty issue and that something is actually wrong.. just be sure you do NOT clear codes before going to the dealer! .. in my case I take it to a good friend and client so I do not get that.. but .... still I would prefer to know...

I forgot the new "CAN" language! Crap have to get a new reader

You probably have an issue with the electronic throttle control system

Will an OBD-2 reader read this code even though its not a CEL?

I bought the new Actron CB? (forgot to write it down) model and it reads a ton of stuff. Has a USB interface and software to use the laptop as well.. it does live data logging etc

it displayed the following "pending" codes.... not CEl codes...

P061B Internal Control Mod torque Calculation Perform

P2106 Throttle Accuator Control System forced limited power

that was all that was in there.. everything else was ok from what limited time i had to browse....

car has not done it since the other night so I will contact the dealer and make an appointment to go over it...

DROCK96 WINS AGAIN!

either a good guess or he has something up his sleeve?

Ok the light came back on today on my way home from work. When I got home, I didnt shut the engine off so the light would remain so I can grab my Actron CP9135 OBD-II reader. It read the following codes:

P2106 - Throttle Accuator Control (TAC) System forced limited power

P061B - Computer & Auxiliary Out

What do these codes mean?

It means it's your electronic throttle control system acting up.
