I am unsure on how to type this but I would use the search button and key in dark mode.

Actually the seat belt "dinger" is separate from Dark Mode. In my old '00, I was able to unplug the sensor at the base of the seal belt (on floor). Not sure if the newer models are the same???

i think diller is right...there is a plug that is connected to the seatbelt under the seat which contolls the chime and dashlight.

It's a sequence you have to do with the seat belt, IIRC

Turn key to accessories mode
Wait for the belt light to go off, takes a minute
when it goes off plug and unplug the belt three times
then turn the headlights on for a sec, then off
then buckle and unbuckle 3 more times and the belt light should flash and it will be gone, no more DING DING DING DING

was this little jig described above a joke or no? I did it, I think my neighbors think I have OCD, but it did not work.

I have like a little mission control under my seat, Im afraid to touch any wires and plugs under there.

I'll just have to keep the radio turned up... err I mean I always buckle my seat belt.

look in the owners manual-

https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/default.asp

for the seat belt (beltminder) to disable/enable

in the safety belt section.

-nothing here on the door chime. I still want to turn mine off.

For my 00 MGM i unplugged the seatbelt under the seat and both the chime and seatbelt light never comes on anymore. But the chime will still ring if i leave the keys in the ignition and open the door as well as leave the lights on and open the door.

on my 00 i removed the plug thats at the base of the seatbelt and theres two ways to get rid of that dinging, one, theres a wire that has a brass tip that goes into the ignition cylinder that dings when ur cars on but not turned over u can just pull it out of the cylinder and theres a wire that is part of the LCM its the furthest black wire on the drivers side. that wire when clipped deactivates the door open ding and the dome/cabin light.

IIRC the key should go from the OFF position to th ON position. The On position is closest to the START position, ACC is the furthest from START.
