Check the fuse
check the switch
Check the relay in the battery junction box
check the wires in between

IIRC, the switch directs the LCM to turn energize the defroster relay which in turn powers the defroster and heated mirrors. The dash switch grounds a pin on the LCM. Since the neither the light or heat works, I say switch, relay, fuse or wiring in between these. Hope it is not the LCM.

Do you have heated mirrors? If yes, do they heat up?

Look at the trim around the dash, it wraps around the driver's side of the dash towards the door jamb, its about 10 inches wide and 2 inches tall. Grasp the trim on the edge towards the door jamb and pry it off. Its as simple as that. No screws. Easy to take off easy to put on.

On my 2005 CVPI, the Central Junction Box only provides the power to the coil of the Rear Window Defrost Relay. The actual power to make the element hot, the mirrors hot and the switch lamps light up is provided from the Battery Junction Box. On the 2005 CVPI it is fuse F1.107 (40 amp). The switch only turns on the relay. The relay powers everything else.

If it is the switch that is bad, and you ground the correct wire leading to the LCM from the switch, you should get the light to come on and the defroster to work.

If you don't have an owner manual to look up fuses, download one at https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/maintenance.asp

Time to measure and see if you are getting voltage at the rear window.
