i bought a 2002 Crown Vic Highway patrol car with a blown engine. i decided to put a 5.4 in instead of just going back with the 4.6. i have a few questions. the flex plate didnt bolt up to my torque converter so i had to modify the stock one.. does anybody know which one will bolt right up. also which headers will work on this. i used the reichard racing adapter plates. when i got it done it ran pretty [censored]. i ordered the sniper tuning special forces kit, and WOW!! it came alive. i was also thinking of putting the 5.4 injectors and throttle body on. does anyone know what size the stock ones are. i think the ones on the 5.4 intake are 24lbs. they are orange. the ones i am running now the stock 4.6 ones are like a dark blue.

Orange Injectors are 19lbers and I believe the blue ones are 24lbers from ford racing. The TB's should be the same size, the 5.4 Tb might be a MM or 2 bigger, I would look into a 70mm TB or maybe even a 75mm tb, the stock tb's are 65 to 68mm.

If the injectors are gray and from a 01 crown vic they are 27lb injectors, for some reason 01 cv's got 27lbers from the factory. the only way to find out forsure is with part numbers. Heres some pics and part numbers of the 27 lbers.

Looks stock! Sweet. Now you just need to upgrade from that stock airbox and zip tube.

Ok,

There is no reason to change anything in terms of injectors or intake piping. The 5.4L makes LESS HP than the 4.6L (with the same heads, intake and exhaust and similar tuning) but MORE Tq at lower RPMs. Therefore, you do not need to replace parts on the intake side, and doing so will not dramatically improve power output.

The rev limiter programmed for the 4.6L is WAY TOO HIGH for a 5.4L with it's even longer stroke - on stock internals.

If it backfires, something is leakig air past the MAF sensor, or you have a timing problem. Find out, and get it fixed before it runs lean and cracks a ring land.

If it ran cr@ppy before the tune, SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG. You need to get the tune OUT of the PCM, fix what is causing the problem, and then start over.

Nice job though, hopefully your issues are a simple vacuum leak or something.

I have only been able to drive it around the block at the shop. Well last night I got to take it out for a good old shakedown run. The car drove great no intake popping or any other issues. I have had several cvpi and this one is by far the most fun to drive!! I would reccomend this swap to anyone with a blown 4.6. I also got pulled over by the man for improper lane usage and got a warning. He had an 03 and wouldn't race me. LOL.
does anybody know what headers will fit on with no clearance issues. And what's the cheapest was to get a posi rear end. Is there any that bolt up

So is that why the 5.4 is rated as having MORE hp vs the 4.6 in any year? What is your reasoning on how inlet improvements won't help a 5.4 when they are proven on the 4.6. The heads and intake are not the bottle neck in the system.

Definatly do some intake and exhaust upgrades! Get her running right first though! Some track times with a stock Vic with the 5.4 swapped in would be cool!

Sniper!!! Finally someone to talk to you and I might be it on this forum for using it.

I thought about doing the swap in the future. Did you just adjust the CID in the software to 330? What else did you change from the stock tune? Did you recon it and see where your timing and fuel is at?
