Is there a guide On How to change the front shocks on A 2003 Crown Victoria? Do I have to remove The springs?
I can't get Them Off.
I got the Bottom and top bolt off but can't get the shock Out.

Since they are like the setup on my 89 and 97 Cougars, I would treat them the same, remove the spring/shock combination, take it to a shop that has a wall mounted spring compressor, give them 20 bucks and not worry about losing a finger or a chunk of my head, because they are under a lot of pressure.

They are just like struts, not that hard, just not as easy as the pre 03 models.

Pass, I will not mess with spring compressors even though I know how to use them. I will pay a shop that has better experience and correct tools then I when it comes to deadly projectiles.

I heard of a guy who removed the top part of his head because he didn't compress the spring when doing struts. Needless to say he was dead.

Its pretty much a pain in the ass to use the cheap spring compressors they rent at Autozone/Murrays. It makes it MUCH easier with an impact to tighten down the compressors. I guess you could do it with a socket, but it will take ALOT of turns.

Well worth paying the $20 to have a shop swap the struts over.

I use the rental tools and a 625 ft-lb impact gun. It gets the job done quickly every time.

I finally finished the One Side. I don't have a lot of time to work On it. I;m no mechanic I can do basic things. This was my first time doing coil overs Now I understand how it works..The one major problem I ran into is getting the Sway bar links off I ended up cutting them and buying new. I'm sure I can do the other side real easy Knowing how to do it.A Local shop charge me $15 to compress the spring.
