P0305=5th cylinder misfire, bad enough to throw a code....

I checked, thinking bout a cracked intake, but no coolant leaks, plug well is clean, but with what appears to be corrosion on the tip of the plug.. Further inspection reveals ever so slight corrosion on the spring DESPITE large amounts of dielectric grease in the plug boot....

I'm thinking I need a new spring, and i might as well replace the COP. I've already had to replace 2 COPS, I'm thinking I might as well replace all, with the aftermarket ones that run ~60$/8...

Thoughts?

rain? almost none. a bit damp..

I swapped the suspected COP to another cyl., no MIL yet, but flashing CEL indicates its still misfiring... and SOTP is telling me it's a REALLY BAD misfire... Although it feels a bit different...

I'm betting it's the COP..

Kinda wierd it happened the day after the trans.... when that shudder went through the car, I about flipped.. I then realized it was a misfire, not a trans issue...... AFTER I pulled over and overfilled the trans by about a quart... GAH!

As it would happen, I had a P0302 code the same morning. Techno was riding in my car once a few months ago and told me I had a miss but I had no way of finding it. While driving my GF to the airport Saturday morning I really started to notice a miss and suddenly the CEL started flashing. I hooked up the code reader while we were still driving and pulled the code. The problem was intermittent up and back. When I got home, I swapped the #2 COP with #3 and took it out for a drive. While it was still missing really bad it refused to throw the code I wanted to see, P0303. So then I was having all sorts of cracked intake anxieties. I bought a Duralast COP for $50 put it on the #3 plug. Problem solved. Itís running better than ever.

I had a spare cop, replaced it, and it's working like a charm.... junkyard had a few for 5$ a piece that I picked up as spares...
