It's still a bada$$ setup though. Want to trade?
not anymore delay then a regular turbo setup....boost kicked in at 2800-3200rpms depending on that gear it was in...also having taller gears helps with spool time....4.10's will let the engine spin up faster then 3.27s....the intercooler piping was 2 inch from the turbo to the engine compartment then steps up to 3 inch from the blowoff valve to the intercooler and throttle body...

Is it a problem if the turbo gets wet, I know you wouldn't want to suck in water but if you routed your intake so it couldn't and the turbo was just in a spot where is might get splashed with water would that be a problem?

Also I take it 03slickvic that you blew it up at 12psi and thats why you said to stay under 10psi ?

well with rain and puddles...i drove around the puddles and in the rain i drove much slower....as long as your not in the boost in the rain, the turbo wont pick up any water....all i had was a K&N filter with their silk filter sock on it....no issues what so ever in the rain.......you can build a sheild to cover the turbo and filter....remote mounted turbos run 400-500 degrees cooler then a under the hood unit...so water doesnt affect the turbo...why did i turn up the boost? i got greedy i quess....whats 2 more psi of boost? "BOOM!" is the answer lol...ran out of fuel pump most likely....just keep it under 10psi and your golden! tune! tune! tune! its all in the tune....

But you could have even routed your intake under your hood to be safer yet if you wanted to?

you could, but if you did do that you might as well run the system under the hood.

you could also put a fuel cell in and run the turbo(s) where the old tank was....

Having the turbo under the car keeps the engine bay temps down and elimates any clearance issues. Personally, I'd prefer the turbo in the engine bay but, mounting the turbo on a CV would be a pita for me. After reading this thread, I want to build a budget, low psi, remote mount kit for my car. Hopefully, before 2010.

it doesn't raise the temp to much.

I've looked at the STS system quite a bit. They have a "snorkle" system (just a flexible hose ducting) so you can move the air intake away from the turbo itself. I thought the best place would be in the middle of the rear bumper, underneath a proguard unit. Then put that moisture foam wrap on the filter. That would be ideal and you could WOT right through puddles 1 foot deep without issue.

I think ditching the stock fuel tank for a fuel cell is an excellent idea. There would be more than enough room and would not be to difficult at all to work up. I also like that idea luv-my-02 of the air intake in the rear bumper. I'd love a turbo/twin someday, that would be ideal for me. Built of course if I went twin... someday.

i went remote mount for the ease of installation and cost....
its 6k for a standard blower kit for a 4.6......it cost me $3500 with me doing all the work...

Supercharger kits are crazy expensive. Unlike turbos, they are built for a certain type of engine. It's always cheaper piecing together a turbo kit. Especially, a remote mount kit. I will mount a used or rebuilt turbo to lower the costs even more. Probably a small factory turbo like the Mitsubishi 16g.

Here's a Turbo Town Car that Triangle Speed Shop did. Saw this at the track, but didn't get a chance to talk to the owner.
