I just read about my service intervals, and found out P71 spark plugs change at 60K, not 100K. I was ready to change mine, but I assume the LAPD changed mine at 60K, so not to worry.

I have always been told not to use anti-seize on the plugs in the panther since there are only 2-3 threads holding the plugs in as is.

You forgot to change to your own account Mr. Anti-Seize.

Honestly it is not my account. I remembered the post from my previous thread and went and found the picture.

Interceptor09....... You had to go and post that....... This most likley turn into a "use anti seize" -- "don't use antiseize" thread now..........

I recommend the autolite APP764's for these engines. Cheaper than the motorcrafts and autolite make them for motorcraft anyways. Gap to 0.052" and this will allow some room for errosion. I would not trust a set of plugs in for 100k without at least inspecting them.

On a side note, the 764 series plug can be a little difficult to find. If you cannot find them an APP104 is perfectly compatible, but will be threaded the entire length. No big deal. The double platinum has a platinum center, and a platinum pad fused to the ground strap. This will allow the gap to remain unchanged for a very long time. Mine are 27k old and have ZERO wear as of yet.

the recommended service intervals on cop cars on EVERYTHING is less miles than the civilian cars because of all the ilding the cops do....

idling mucks up everything including the plugs.. so with severe duty ford recommends shorter intervals on the tranny, air filters, radiator flushes, spark plugs, oil changes

just the way they beat the snot out of the car

that said its not a bad idea to swap them out when you have another reason between 60 and 100K to be under the hood for a while... like if you have to put in a battery or fix a bad alternator or something like that.. i find it easier to just do something like the plugs on a car when I am already piddling about on a saturday!

as far as anti-sieze.. you can use it if you are careful... but the problem is a lot of folks use too much on the shallow threads and then seat them so tight they strip them and then blow them out

those new HP heads from Trick Flow are going to be awesome (if you can afford em) as they have deeper threads!

what makes you think they ever changed them ? think they read the manual?

they are CHEAP .. budgets are for bullets and sirens and pension payments.. the cars get the minimum to keep them running in service and then they dump them on you guys

i would not assume they changed them, quite the opposite

pull one and look
