It really hasn't ever bugged me to much, because it doesn't affect anything mechanically, shift from P>1 and so forth no problems at all. So my problem is, the shift stick lever whatever you want to call it, is quite loose, wobbley, I can switch without hesitation, and when i am in gear, say Drive, I can move the stick around quite a bit, very easily, its quite loose.

Thank you all for any replies....I dont post to much, but I have been more and well im trying to say when im not out driving, at school, fsu, with girl friend, f'ing with my car, etc...i am on cvn,...really computer gets used for music, porn, and panthers. hope that was appropriate \:\) apologies if not. thanks to everyone...ive done a lot to my car...I will have to post some more pictures soon. I love all the little things one can do with these cars to make them look better, like all the stuff to clean up in the interior after the police equipment, b pillar covers, rear shelf, dash, yaaa know.

Thank you,
Kevin

Check the BOK for an article on "Shift boot R&R"

You will see directions and pictures to help you find 2 torx screws on either side of the shift tube.

Those are loose.

those two screws get loose alot so just rip it apart and give um some turns and carry on.

Maybe a dab of locktite to finish it up

I have it ripped apart right now, and those screws are not loose. the shifter wobblles in its housing, and the rest of the shifting mechanism there wobbles. under the bridge that those two screws down it moves a lot, and it looks like perhaps there are shredded remnants of some kind sleeve thats supposed to be there(where it goes under the bridge? and isnt one mine?

thank you

You probably need new shifter tube bushings, they're cheap and not hard to put in.

that sounds, looks, right yes, thank you. but what is also concerning me is that the stick its self, the one piece, is wobbling also in its little housing with the pin and clip.

my '03 was loose like that from the factory (my mother bought it new, and i have since then bought it from her) her new '07 has no movement to it tho. maybe its just a normal thing.

Mine is not what I would call "tight" either. The shifter works fine, but the handle is loose. It's not a problem.

iirc where the pin connects the shifter handle to the column the pin has elongated the hole causing the shifter to to bounce around alot. I have noticed mine go from tight to loose over the past few years.
