Well, just weeks away from having to relocate to Wisconsin. They got plenty of cheese & beer, but...no concealed weapons permits.
Been lawfully locked & loaded down South for over 25 years, and I will be damned if I will stop for Wisconsin. In all those years, I had to produce my weapon once. It was a robbery, and I stopped it. The thing about not bringing a knife to a gunfight is true!
Anyway, I'm thinkin' the big, obvious fanny bag with the Glock 17, extra mags, Surefire Z2 combat light, Fox OC spray, locking Boker fighting knife, and a few other "friends" is asking for hassle. Not sure how the L/E up that way, likes to handle their "law."
I certainly won't be doing anything to merit, "Sir, you don't have a gun in there do you?", but I guess the question could be asked for no reason except the obvious---"yes, I do!"
Thinking about getting a true pocket pistol like a Airweight, or a Kel-Tec PF9. It's got to be a minimum .38/9mm, and a lot easier to carry/conceal, than my Glock 26 BUG.
Even stranger: I'm told you can openly carry in Wisconsin, but concealment makes you a criminal. WTF!!!

Yes, open carry is legal in Wisconsin but you can still get arrested for the disorderly conduct if someone calls the cops. Wisconsin not having concealed carry is the main reason why I have no plans to move back there.

And dimwitted chief says he'll continue to take down open carriers at gunpoint... Saying you have to prove you're legal to carry it...
Apparently he hasn't heard of Florida Vs. J.L. or Terry Vs. Ohio.
Officers may not detain unless they can articulate that a crime 'has been, will be, or is currently being committed'... FURTHER even if they can articulate that, they can't disarm unless they can articulate that the suspect is both armed AND currently dangerous... You can't assume someone is breaking the law, then demand ID to 'prove' that you're not....
The chief also threw his immunity out the window,by essentially saying 'I don't care what the AG says, I'm doing things my way'.. While the AG opinion isn't binding, officers are gonna get real pissed real quick with all the lawsuits, complaints, and charges being dismissed.. Such dismissed charges also present a huge liability to the department...

Does anyone have any links or further info about O/C in Wisconsin? I was thinking about going to Home Depot and Safeway and educating them Oh wait, no Safeway here. All kidding aside, I'll have to look this up.

"If you're walking down the street with a gun in your hand and people can see it or you've got one in your holster here and people can see it, it's going to create a disturbance," Young said.
I thought open carry meant safely carried, in a holster on hip or such, not waving it around in your hand ??

Ulver, do you realize that if you are convicted of carring a concealed weapon there you will become a felon, thereby making it illegal for you to even own a weapon?
Of course I do...
But I just helped put about 30 people in prison. Right now, my wife & kids have three U.S. Marshals with them 24/7. You think that can last forever? Of course not...
Oh, so I can open carry and get hassled or arrested, or I can conceal and get hassled or arrested.

I can't go into a lot of it... It's more who my wife worked with, what she discovered, and what blowing the whistle has resulted in.
The Marshals tell me to carry. The Federal Court Judge I report to tells me to carry. However, truth-be-known, they can't promise 100%, that some four-man police dept., couldn't bust me right in front of them, and I don't go to jail.
Wisconsin sucks...

Yeah, if your going to carry in WI, you'd be smart to open carry, as its at least pseudo-legal.. If some officer decides to push the issue, the usual charge is disorderly conduct, as opposed to a full on Felony CCW charge.. Even that DC would probably be thrown out.
