I give up! where the f*&% is the inertis switch located on my 1989 Crown Vic, does it even have one? Car won't start, new fuel pump and relay in the engine compartment clicks but fuel pump won't energize. I didn't even realize these cars had this switch until I joined this forum. Please help a newbie.

Yeah it's one of the little "Gotchas" of the beast.
Was there any recent work done to the car? Collisions?
It shouldn't stop working out of the blue.

He may have banged it around enough while doing the fuel pump.

inertia switch is located by the arm that lifts trunk lid on driver side. black box with white tab sticking from top. there is another relay that affects the fuel pump and relay also under the hood... i hhad the issue with one of my cars. it is the brown relay by where the green fuel pump relay was. my car cut out on the highway and i thought the relay or pump quit... i messed with wires by the relays with the key in the ON position and i heard the pump kicking on and off. it ended up being the brown relay with corroded leads on it. i replaced it and no issues.

i always keep spare relays in my car i have had both the ecm and fuel pump realy go out on me. On an 89 the grey horn relay is interchangeable and you can use it as a spare to get you back up and running. You can also jump a terminal on the obd 1 terminal to get the fuel pump to come on.
