Well Folks,

It all turned out GREAT! The new motor ('04) is in and running well. It is all around much smoother: idling, accelerating and cruising. It is more powerful, but not drastically so. Can't have it all, I guess!

Here's the garage that did the swap:
Citizen Automotive
2129 W Rosecrans Ave
Gardena, CA 90249
(310) 768-1574

Ask for Gary and tell him Joe with the white CNG Crown Vic engine swap sent you. Decent price and 90 day warranty. I'll report back if there is any issues, but so far so good.

Thanks again, everyone! So nice to have my CV back and working well..

They used the CNG aluminum intake with the PI heads. Gary said everything under the intake is standard from a '04 long block. Everything above that was carried over from my old motor. Intake, injectors, rails, coils, etc..

Thanks for your help in this thread! I hope this makes life easier for someone looking to do the swap in the future.

I would love some sort of CNG car. Mainly around here you find the F150s, but I want one that my wife can use to drive around town, take the kids to school. I am pretty sure that it is easy to refill it at the airport, which is very close to me. 40 miles round trip a day, would probably want something with extended range or dual fuel, like a Crapolear.

You can check out all the stations by you at http://www.cngprices.com. Although I agree a dual fuel would be better in your case than a dedicated CNG car, I've heard that the dual fuel Cavaliers and Fords equipped with Compuvalves (a 2k part!) are problematic.

The only reason I went with a dedicated CNG car so I could qualify for solo occupant carpool (HOV Lane) stickers in California. Otherwise, dual fuel all the way.

I've heard good things about the Civic GX and Camry CNG, but those are dedicated CNG.

a good resource for all things CNG is http://www.cngchat.com

To find CNG cars, check out:
http://www.ksl.com - based in Salt Lake - check out their classified section. Tons of dedicated and dual fuels in UT because CNG is subsidized to $.97 out there.
http://www.cngmotors.com/ - ask for Murphy.. good guy.
http://www.craigslist.com - check out Salt Lake, or use http://www.crazedlist.org to check out multiple markets at once.
http://www.naturaldrive.com - they convert Impalas
http://www.baftechnologies.com - also a conversion shop
http://www.baytechcorp.com - another conversion shop
http://gsaauctions.gov - they often liquidate large fleets of CNG cars.
http://www.cngchat.com - they have a marketplace section as well.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions..my CNG car saves me lots of time and money.

My 01 intake seemed like it had a few missing spots I needed to fill with the new style heads. Do you know if he used newer or older intake gaskets, I wonder if they make a gasket for this problem. I will try to contact him also.

I don't know if it works, and you would need a tank. Just popped up on ebay:
CNG ENGINE KIT for 4.6 L FORD CROWN VIC UPFIT KIT

I have seen home refueling stations for sale there too. They are pretty expensive, but you could sell it if you got out of CNG.
