They come off with the whole fascia .

IIRC there are like ten or so bolts and just the wiring to the plate and reverse bulbs.

I have read that removing the lock and such is unnecessary.

This is all hear-say, I've never done it,I just searched a bit.

What Rizzo said, don't forget the bolts behind the license plate. The bolts are just on the inside of the trunk lid when you open it.

Hey man, where's the pic of the 2 behind the plate?

CrownVicBoyz-When you take the panel off you may have a few of the screws come out of it, I think there's a fix for that if you wanna search.

I attempted to remove my rear fascia just for practice but it was really stuck on there. There's a lot of adhesive or something holding it on, requiring a pry bar. I gave up before taking it all the way off.

Yes, there is adhesive. It might help to have a friend use a non-marring pry tool to pry the adhesive off the trunk panel as you lift off the fascia.

also the license plate light is attached to the deck lid with 2 screws as you can see in Embassy's pic. i'd disconnect and remove the wire harness with the facia, there are 2 retainers that slide onto tabs behind the facia, and little slots where the wires fit through ridges back there. if the harness isn't held in the right place the facia might not sit flush when you re-install it

Yes, there are also two screws behind the license plate. do not worry if the entire stud removes from the fascia, you can use a wrench and a socket to seperate the nut and the stud and then reseat it back into the fascia either. Like mentioned there are 10 or so studs with nuts that you have to remove, then the fascia comes off from the trunk lid as a hole. The lock tumbler stays in place mounted to the trunk lid as well so you do not have to worry about that. Good luck! Oh and by the way, there was no adhesive holding my Grand Marquis fascia on or holding the Crown Victoria fascia on that I got from the junkyard.

No Thanks:
