I have an 05 crown vic with 14k miles on it. The last 2-3 times I went to fill up the gas pump kept shutting off like the tank was full. The last time was the worst when It would barely go 1/4 of a gallon at times before clicking off. This was also at 2 different gas stations and 3 different pumps so Im pretty sure its my car.

Any ideas? Could the vent line be clogged or something in the filler line be hung up? I did a visual check but theres not much to see.

I've got same car ( 05CV w 6k miles) with same problem.

Mine sat for nearly 3 years beforee I got it with 2400 miles so I thought that was the problem.

First tank filled normally, since then it's been start/ stop.

We ccould both use some guidance on fixing this.

"Laptop" under trunk.

Remove lines and clear with compressed air.

You want to clear the lines running thru it, Not to and from it if you know what I mean.

check emission cannister black box under the trunk

check the hoses [2]and if necessary - the solenoid inside the box

may be just a clogged hose

Sand in the solonoid attached to lines and black box under trunk.
Blow out the line to nowhere and the solonoid with compressed air.

Need to get to this job before th 4eground gets too cold.

Do you mean the black box attached to the bottom of the gas tank?

Or do I need to look under the trunk liner?

Help appreciated.

Had the very same problem with my 05 CV sport. After putting the pump nozzle all the way in, lift it up about 2-3 inches. Don't know why but the tank fills normally this way.
