Friend has a 2005 CV PI
The issues mentioned here were from the previous owner
For some unknown reason his oil dipstick was smashed into the dipstick. The "O" pull was broken clean off and nothing remained above the tube to pull or twist. The rest of the dipstick was smashed into the tube so much so after it's "removal" we were unable to even push it back out w/o bendind the dipstick.
Here's where "we" stand now.
We tried all kinds of PB blast where the dipstick meets the block to remove it as he has a brand new one from the dealer.
There is all of a 1/6th of an inch exposed. So grabbing it and twisting it aint gonna happen.
The motor mount position prevents a tap from being run in to it.
We also tried a propane torch on it to heat it and let it cool, Then we bent steel coat hangers and tried to pull it out from the inside.
We tried heating the area around the dipstick and pulling then as well.
So here are the questions .
Anymore ideas on how to remove it ?
If it comes down to it, What's it gonna be like to drop the oil pan on a 2005 ? Will we have to undo the front two motor mounts and jack the engine up some to get the pan out ?
He's got a large screw that fit snugly into the hole with some JB weld puddy around it as a seal. He wants to go his 7K on his oil change so we have some time to come up with good ideas.

Factory procedure for doing the oil pan calls for dropping the front suspension cross member.

Screw you Colt Factory schmactory We're innovators here..
But I know you looked for the correct year and are most likely right.
I don't own at this time anything small enough to get in there but I will peruse that as an option. Should I heat up that "hip" area around the tube/block joint to open it up some or will I risk that heat weakening it and the punch pushing it out and cracking that ?

Try CRC Freeze off. That might make it contract instead of expanding. I just looked up for my 2004 but no difference with a 2005 in that area.

This is probably not the answer you are looking for, but I had this issue on an old Chrysler 2.2l four cylinder. I ended up knocking the leftover dipstick tube piece into the pan, and replacing the dipstick tube.
I'm not sure if the dipstick piece every came out of the pan with any oil chnages, but I had no issues for another 60K miles and traded the car off.
Let us know who you make out. Take care, Bill

I fear a blocked pick up screen, and subsequent drop in oil pressure.

Not sure what kind of room you have down there Rizzo but I've had good luck on a few cars this way. Getting a big enough machine screw and screwing it inside the tube then taking either a little slide hammer or a pair of vise grips and twisting and pulling it up.
Hope that helps

Well although I think it may be ok to leave it down in there, I'll leave that up to the owner.. Kinda like signing a waiver ... HE did it .. NOT ME
