ok.....i used the search but i didn't find anything that really helped.

So yesterday i was heading to Los Angeles and stopped about 20 miles from my house to have the car washed. After its done i get in and start it up. Right away the OD light starts flashing. It was not doing that before i went to the car wash. So i drove away and went down a side street. I turned the car off then back on.....no more flashing light.

So i get back on the freeway, about 45 miles later it starts flashing again. So i exit the freeway park and turn the car off and restart it. Again the light is not flashing. So i get out and go do what i had to do in Los Angles. Come back mabey 15 min later start the car and still no flashing light.......it never came back on the whole 90 mile drive back to my house on the freeway.

Any Input?

Flashing OD is transmission fault. Since it happens as soon as you start it up, Im a betting it is electrical related. Did you wash under the hood too?

no under hood wash, I am not a big fan of that....but im sure they did the under body spray as it went down the wash line at the car wash. I kinda was thinking maybe some water got into one of the connections or something. By the way the transmission shifts perfect all the time......flashing or not.

Yeah, you might try unplugging the elctrical connectors and blowing them out with air. Repack them with dielectric grease and see what happens.

Range selector.....that's the sensor that tells the transmission what gear to go in right? what side of the transmission is that on?

I had a flashing OD light after some really heavy rains.

After I had a trans shop pull the code I was told it was a "Tran fluid high temp" code. But the guy and I quickly agreed that was crap as my fluid was not hot because I lived close.

Turns out the temp sensor which is on the passenger side of the trans is pushed up from the VB side during assembly.

So I unplugged the connector to it, CRC non residue contact cleaner, let it dry. This removed some green from the pins.

Dielectric greased the OD part of the connection and plugged it back in.

OD flash gone.

So when i went to start the car to move it so i can get underneath it and the O/D light starts flashing right away. I had not driven the car since yesterday. I move the car, turn off the engine and restart it......lite is gone.

So i cleaned and greased the gear range selector and the trans temp sensor. The grease in the temp sensor was almost all dried out. Cleaning the terminals on the trans sensor it's self is pretty challenging. The range selector looked OK. Took it for a 6 mile test drive on the freeway and streets in stop and go traffic. So far so good no flashy...lol. Hopefully its gone for good.

Thank you to all who contributed .

Matt.....AKA_Blackcvpi

What you probably did was the OSS sensor, not the trans temperature sensor which is inside the transmission. :P Glad it appears to be working!
