hello i recently purchased a 2003 p71 crown vic and it does not start i turn the key and it makes like a light clicking sound all the acessorys work just the car wont start i was thinking it might be a starter solenid but i cant locate it any suggestions

It might be a dead battery. Mine did the same thing and it turned out to be a dead battery.

the battery is in good shape the guy i bought the car from said he jumped the starter and the car started

check fuses/relays first.
check battery connections too.

A starter pulls more from the battery than the accessories. If he "jumped the starter" he bypassed the battery & went directly to the terminals on the starter, which is on the motor under the passenger side of the motor. I bought my wife a 03 PT Cruiser with 35k on it & the first cold (0 degree) morning it wouldn't start. Radio played, lights worked but just as you described a "clicking sound" was all she got. Jumped it, ran fine but next AM nothing.

Very happy with the MKS. Finally got used to all the bells & whistles. Better handling, good MPG (25-27 highway) Better stopping distance & much faster acceleration.

if you think its the starter, give it a few bangs with a hammer.

a temporary fix to start it, but if it works then you know what to replace

Check the battery cables, they often get crimped or dry rotted.

some one mentioned to me that it could be the neutral safety switch could that be the cause

if it was the neutral safety switch i don't think i would click. to me it sounds like the starter/solenoid or the starter is not getting the power it needs.
