For some reason, my dome light refuses to turn off. I turn the switch until it's straight up, remove the key, and get out of the car. The dome light stays on. I'm afraid I'll run down the battery and the car won't start.

It began this way about a week ago. The first time it happened I slammed all four doors and the light went out.

I slam them now but still the dome light will not go out.

It's cold in Ohio right now, constantly below freezing. I'm thinking there might be a switch on one of the doors blocked by ice. I can't see anything though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!

I know my car has a battery saver feature that turns the interior lights off after 10-15 minutes. If that is working on your car then I wouldn't worry about the battery. Still worth trying to find the cause of the problem tho.

Battery Saver will let turn it off after 20/30 minutes (don't have manual or PDF handy to get specifics).

Does your door keypad work correctly? If it isn't a broken door keypad then it is one of the switches for one of the doors indicating it thinks one of the doors is still open.

Do you have auto lamp also? If is on, do the headlights do the same thing, or just the interior light?

Thanks for the quick responses. The keypad does work correctly. I do have autolamp.

Scouring the web,I'm really thinking it's one of the door ajar switches. I'll have to look them more carefully this evening.

Thanks again.

I solved this problem by WD-40ing the door latches like there was no tomorrow. By the next morning my left rear door opened a bit easier and the dome light worked properly. Just a thought...

If you haven't solved this one - -

I ran into this and found it was my fault. I had turned the headlights off and accidently pressed on the switch knob without knowing it. Frustrating! After a few minutes of looking, I pushed on the headlight sw "just in case", closed the door and the interior lights went off. Yeah, I felt a bit stupid!

You might try this. If that turns out to be what it is, you don't haveto admit it to anyone!
