I just picked up a Keyless 99 Vic. I bought it and it was in Neutral, I had a key made for it, shifted it into Park and now it won't shift out. The new key turns perfectly in both the doors and ignition so I am assuming its the shift release or something of that nature. Any idea if their is a way of either testing it or bypassing the lock so that I can move it? I don't mind bypassing it, I would actually prefer to do it that way. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Break switch. I had to replace mine about 1-2 mins ago. Car would start fine and everything but it didn't wanna shift out of parking. Do this, have some apply the brakes while u stand behind the car and and check to c if your break lights work. If they don't work then its a big possibility that your nuetral break switch is bad.

You can also bypass the brake interlock by putting the key in the run position (but don't start it), put your foot on the brake (just so it doesn't go anywhere), and shift to neutral and start it there. I wouldn't suggest that long term.

Also if your brake lights DO work, try forcing (quite a bit, but not enough to break anything) the wheel to the left and to the right, they can bind however if I remember right that makes it so you can turn the key at all.

i would look into if your car has the Tremco ignition interlock device... it is designed to do just what your talking about... cops leave the keys in the car with it running... the "bad guy" jumps on and tries to drive off in the car but it wont shift from park unless you press the button on the floor... which is hidden... it looks like a blood cuff pressure pump bulb kinda, should be new the left side kick panel under the flooring... or take it to the dealer where you got it and ask if it is on there, or try contacting Tremco themselves and ask them where it is normally located in your year CVPI....

i added the tremco as an anti theft and helps with the insurance.

My brake lights don't work... I started looking under the dash and noticed a wire that had at one point gone to a switch or something of that nature off of the brake light switch. I reconnected the wire but still don't have any brake lights. I am going to go through all of the fuses tomorrow and look around a bit more under there. I ended up unplugging the shift lock solenoid to be able to get it into gear. I mainly was just trying to get it out of the way, now I've got to try and repair it now.

its right above the brake pedal pretty much, if you follow the pedal under the dash, you cant miss it, looks like a little relay there. (is on my 93 GM anyways.)

are you talking about the black connector right there mounted onto the pedal as you move up the brake pedal? If so, I think that's the "brake light switch." Or is that the same thing we're talking about, just another name for it?
