I may be buying a 2005 P71 with a bad transmission.

Will I be able to use a transmission out of a 2004 Grand Marquis?

I tried using the BOK, but I am not sure if my conclusions are correct.

Thanks in advance.

Nope. http://www.p71interceptor.com/tranny/modelnumbers/crownvic/index.html
The case is different, as they added another sensor.

I am in the process of replacing mine. I was looking for a '05-'08. I found an '07.
Here is the ID tag;

When you shop around they will ask you sometimes for a number.
