I've always had this question in my head. What kind of work (and money of course) is involved in retrofitting a Panther's SFI system for a GDi if it's even possible? I just really like what Gasoline Direct Injection has to offer in terms of efficiency and power but I still want my car large and BOF, not small, thin, and unibody.

Basically to do direct fuel injection into the cylinder you would need to redesign the heads, replace the low pressure manifold injection system with a high pressure direct injection system, design a new computer and completely new programming to control the injectors just to name a few changes that must happen to make the system feasible in our vehicles. It would be many dollars and trial and error engineering just to get the engine to fire while using all of the other components. Not cheap but if you have mucho dinero to spend we will cheer from the bleachers.

On my LTC the following mods/upgrades were added. Heinous motorsport control arms, Command Automotive SD-1 rotors (these rotors can no longer be obtained), Calipers by Goldlinebrakes.com in silver with Hawk HPS pads (now running Ford OEM), MSD COP's. MZT is also applied with programming from BOC. j-mod is now done. Final rebuild of transmission done by Gearstar.

I think only the ecoboost v6 engines are direct injection at this point.
