I was wondering the difficulty and how to go about swapping the seats out of a 2003 Town car to a 1999 P71. Since I can get the seats relatively cheap. What all would be required to do it? First non import owned so new experience for me. Thanks for any information provided.

well the back seats would be the same. Just remove the crown vic seats and in with the towncar. For the fronts, I beleive you will have to do some re-wireing?(somebody chime in on this) but, they will bolt on with out a problem.

The 03 Town Car has power seats on both driver & passenger, lumbar adjustment on driver side. All adjustments are located on both the passenger & driver's door. If you can look at the donor car you can see what you are going to in for with all the wiring that goes through the doors. Lots of luck or as the Japanese say "Rots of Ruck!"

that requires alot of work, both sides need to be ran - 10 wires from the floor to the door, tap into power and ground, you will also need door seat switch trim cutouts which are rare to find,e even new from ford and 8way seat switches, i'd go with color coded donor wires, you will need at about two cars worth of extra wiring. you may also need to do some rewiring of the stock drivers seat wiring, i didnt pull up any diagrams, so i cant remember for sure, i have pictures of a 99 that has been fully converted dual power, msg me for link.

Anyone have a wiring diagram for both cars concerning the power seats? Just wondering because of the easy availability of newer town car parts. I have a good access to door switch panels near me. But most have ugly seats or just ragged seats.

Relatively easy conversion, particularly for an -00, but you will have to bypass and remove the driver's seat module. this will leave you with the traditional 6way motor movement connector (6 pin, normally brown) and another pair of wires to the recline arm.
There are additional wires to the main 6 way and recline arm motors, they are very thin gauge. These are for the position sensors which will not be used.

In order to use the OE 8way door moutned controls, you need to source them from a 1995-2002 CV/GMQ, along with the 8 way switch cutout door panel trim pieces from a 95-02 CV only.

Power and a heavier gauge ground will have to be run into each door for the switches. Your police power feeds, which are in the passenger footwell, could be used for power if you'd like. Ground should be made at the kickpanel ground strips.
Then of course that actual seat motor wiring from the switch to the seat. This is 8 wires for an 8 way seat

For the lumbar to operate, B+ needs to be present at the seat. This is easy - your 99 CVPI already has a power feed under the driver's seat which can be used to power the lumbar system.

Check out my seat FAQ, and the diagrams/pinouts linked within;
http://www.crownvic.net/drock96marquis/seats.htm

Of course, if you don't care about power the manual seat tracks (and manual recline arm) from your '99 CVPI will swap right over.

I already have a power CVPI drivers seat. My thing is figuring out the wiring or is it color for color pretty much. I would rather just convert to 8 way switches. Since I am in the process of converting to a tan/cream color interior. Just looking to add that touch of Lincoln luxury to it. Looking at sourcing alot of my interior besides that out of a tan interior crown vic. Is there a half easy way of doing this. So i need the door harness, door panels, switches and a power source?

Well Thank everyone for there help. Decided not to go that route since I scored a full parchment interior from a 2000 Grand Marquis Limited for less than I was going to spend for those seats. So I guess this thread can be closed. Thanks anyway.

I am planning an 07 TC seat swap real soon. Assuming I match up the wiring correctly per the pin-out diagrams, Is the following diagram the basic setup for the 8 way door switches? I am installing 8 way power switches in my door panels and running my own wiring with my own generic 10/12 pin connectors.

Do I also have to run power to the seat motor under the seat seperate from the power ran to the switches? Also, I am trying to access the BOK diagrams and they are down. Any other place I can get them? Thanks.

Since I have power seats in my 99 HPP on both sides with the controls in the doors would this be a pretty simple change over for me? I really like the 03 TC seats with the console.

I did the swap 2 years ago. My seats are pulled from an 08 Town Car. I verified the part numbers and they are correct but the wiring harness was an older one. I think that Ford tends to use what they have on hand. My advice is to use the wiring diagrams but verify each function before you re-install. BTW: I love the town car interior. I had planned on adding a console but the arm rest storage and cup holder is great.

There are 2 drawbacks. The air duct for the TC is different from a GM. The town car rear air duct runs along the top of the hump. I never got the console air vents working because I would have had to significantly modify the carpet for that. Additionally, there is a gap there. I use it to store my D-Cell Maglight. As a result of the gap, the cup holders tilt forward to hit the hump. In my car, I just let the cup holder rest on the maglight so it sits flat. The other issue is the rear seat back cushion which is ever so slightly shorter. It matches up to the seat bottom but not tightly like the factory seats do. In the pics you can see the gap as well as the flashlight (that is where it slides in.)

I have NO regrets with this swap!

Ok they are in. They feel and look great - charcoal. I'll take some photos tommorrow. I wound up taking the 6 way switch off the old PI seat and using that for now to posotion the seats. Made the harness longer so I could plug it into the passenger seat. Next paycheck I'll get the 8 way switches and wire this baby up. I'm still a little confused about the recline motor and lumbar. Which plugs/wires under the seats tp use that is.
