I aquired a 98 town car to replaced my very rusty 91. The problem is neither car has a working a/c system to dehumidify the air. The 91 does not fog up at all, the 98 fogs up real bad but the heater core is not leaking. I not only pressure tested the system, but loose no coolant, and cannot smell any burnt celery like other cars that got a slow leak. Carpets are pretty dry except for the little snow I drag in which every car has....

Even with climate control on defrost, fll heat, and full fan, it is still a chore to keep windows clear.

So what is next?

well if the A/C is not working to remove the moisture from the air that is why.

rain-x makes anti fog stuff too you can put on the windshield. That might be worth a shot.

try baking soda, they have the large ones with side vents for $2.50 at kroger, absorbs moisture and odor.

Or keep a window cracked

Your only option may be to fix the AC. When my AC quit on me a few years ago I had the same problem. It seems to be a design issue.

A/C is not the sole reason. My 91' has not had it functioning since 2006 when the compressor fried tight. It NEVER fogs up!!

This 98' has nice airflow and burning hot air, still fogs. A/C fix is not an option. Condensor is blown, compressor is locked, and drier is rotted out. Blend door shaft is broke and stuck on full heat. What can I say, its a green car, and you know what luck green is.......

Is anything else leaking in your car? Do you know if the windshield or anything has leaked?

Try pulling the carpet back on the passenger side and see if the carpet / jute is wet... it's possible that you have moisture in the car.

Those windows just need cleaned. I know it sounds funny, but try some windex and then some rain x to finish it off. If it don't work at least the windows will be clean lol. Help cure my fogged windows in the winter/ and summer when it rains .

I will do one last time. I had to do 3 times in a row due to the nicocoat from the preivous chain smokers. I used sprayway & then a rinse in warm water. They came clean but who knows.

I'm going to go way out there and point out something very obvious. Is your fan set on fresh air or recirc? If it is on recirc, the windows will fog up for sure. I don't know if our cars have that setting, but I've seen it on most other cars. Easy fix if that is the issue.

My windows on my box and aero never fogged up, but both my 2000 and 03 windows fog up quick, but only if there is more than just me in the car. Although my defrosters in the 03 work great on all the windows except the back doors.

I did have the dash apart, and you know what, I left the plug out for both actuators as a result of blend door shaft being broke. I will check to see if thre recirc door is open or closed. The fan is loud compared to my other lincoln so I bet this is the problem.

I think a mix of vinegar and hot water might help with the previous smoker/dirty windows issue and help with the fogging.

By re-plugging in the recirc door actuator, now I can let outside air in. It does seem to help. With me in the car alone, it is acceptable, but with more than me, it still fogs up.
