Thanks. The 2004 has become the first model year in the survey.

Other years are close--the 2000 is only two cars short, the 2003 only five.

Well, I enrolled the Grand Marquis, but you may be bored.....

In 30,000 miles of hard driving, and semi-frequent racing, this has been the entire list of replacement parts:

Intake Manifold
Idle Air Control Valve
Alternator
Turn Signal Switch

I am, of course, not counting maintenance items.

Sometimes we get enough cars within just a month or two, other times it takes longer. In this case, much longer.

But some model years are now in the survey, and other years are now close.

Better late than never...

Thanks, I appreciate it.

We will--finally--start having some stats for the Panthers in a few weeks.

Also just noticed results of a bad copy-and-past in my original post. No way to edit that at this point?

You could get a moderator to edit it, possibly.

I have hardly had any major issues with my 98 MGM.

All it requires is routine maintenance and consumables.

The valves on the engine chatter, but the chattering engine is not the original one. The original one died when the quick-lube place forgot to replace the oil.

For a while, the engine was stalling a lot and not starting when it was cold. I forget exactly what my dad did, but it was something really simple and inexpensive, and it has behaved normally since.

I must admit, my '08 has had no problems. I'm at 42400 miles and 1580 hours. This has been the most reliable in-service car I've had.

It took longer than I had hoped, but we now have some initial results for the Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, and Town Car to include owner experiences through March 31, 2011.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2004: 51

2000: 90

Both are better than average but based on very small sample sizes.

Those of you who have been helping with the survey, thank you, I certainly appreciate it. With more participants we could provide more precise information and cover all model years from 1995 on.

For the details, and to sign up to help improve this information:

Ford Crown Victoria reliability ratings and comparisons

Mercury Grand Marquis reliability ratings and comparisons

Lincoln Town Car reliability ratings and comparisons

Same results on all pages.

We have some initial our reliability stats for the Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, and Town Car (on our redesigned site) to include owner experiences through September 30*, 2011.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2004: 79, about average

2003: 99, about average

2000: 141, about average

All are based on small or even very small sample sizes.

Those of you who have been helping with the survey, thank you, I certainly appreciate it. We'll have further updates in February and May. With more participants we could provide more precise information and cover all model years from 1995 on.

For the details, and to sign up to help improve this information:

Ford Crown Victoria reliability ratings and comparisons

Mercury Grand Marquis reliability ratings and comparisons

Lincoln Town Car reliability ratings and comparisons

Same reliability stats on all pages.
