I'm looking for someone that has a 2007 or later CVPI, that came with the 17" steel police wheels (and tire size 235/55R17) that can tell me what the recommended cold tire pressure is, right off of their doorjamb sticker? Mine somehow got scraped and is no longer readable.

Should be 35 psi irregardless of what the tire says.

Tires have the max pressure, but the car's tire pressure is based on the weight of the car to provide the maximum contact patch on the road.

Here is your manual for 2007. Page 143 states 35 psi.

I am curious as to why you have a MGM and have made it look like a CVPI.
What's the logo on the door and why the 911 on the back.

Since you asked, my POV is used as a supervisory response vehicle for East Bay Regional Fire Support, here in the SF Bay Area. We provide volunteer rehab and logistical support for fire departments in two counties here, plus central California. The logo on the door is for our organization, along with the 911 decals on the rear.

It came stock and with a ride way too mushy for me, so I dumped the alloy wheels and taller tires and replaced them with the stouter rims and lower-profile tires, for better handling, along with some shock changes. I also never liked all the extraneous plastic trim on the back, so I replaced the rear panel with the street appearance package panel. The car is equipped with amber strobes front and rear, as well as around the CHMSL, as we do a lot of work on the side of the road at fire scenes.

If I had a marquis I would do the same things. I love the plain look with steelies!! The reflector/trunk panels that comes on marquis are atrocious, imo

And, yeah, those mudflaps are really more of a desperate attempt to keep the junk off of the rear lower fender-panels, in an effort to save the paint. That section really takes a beating here in the winter. When it's raining here (like it is now), you should see the dirt, fine sand, and small plant debris that gets plastered onto the panels behind the wheels, and it's really tough on the paint, and hard to safely clean off. I may take those flaps off when summer comes around again, since they're not really needed 6 months out of the year, and just keep it as a seasonal necessity.

My 2000 Crown Vic has 225/60R17 tires and the door sticker said 32 psi.

ive got the molded splash guards as well and this winter i've already noticed a huge difference. NO SNOW BUILD-UP ON REAR BUMPER!!!

I once had a 2005 CVPI with 16" rims, and I coulda sworn that the recommended pressure was 35 PSI for that one. My 2007 Mustang GT did in fact say to run 32 PSI cold, but that car was a lot smaller and lighter than a Crown Vic or Grand Marquis, so it almost seems to me that 35 PSI might make more sense in a bigger car?

the recommended pressure are for specific load index.

for load index 97 rated tires, civilian psi is 32, CVPI psi is 35.

the max load for 97 index tires is 1609 pounds (at the max pressure listed on the tire), and 32 is recommended for the weight of the car and the max load.

If you have higher rated tires (98 is 1653) then you can lower it, and as long as the rated load for a lower index tire is higher than the weight of vehicle and load, then you can use a higher pressure.

It seems like the CVPI weighs significantly more than a civilian car, to require 3 additional psi.

My car lists 32psi front, 35psi rear for both the standad 15" steelies, and the optional 16" wheels. But its a '96

my 2005 lists the exact same SPLIT tire pressure recommendations from the factory of 32 front and 35 rear.

the road crap does get splashed onto that area behind the tires in back. Looks pretty bad...i'm really anal about that area!
I use a little soapy rag with some Bon Ami and it's all good!
