Filler neck is rusted out under the rubber cup at the fender.
I need some help as to how to remove the filler neck after all fasteners are removed. I don't think I can pull the neck out of the opening for the fuel door because the vent tube looks as though it won't fit through. Do I push the filler tube into the tank and then maneauver it around and pull it out the wheel well. I hope I don't have to drop the tank. It's on a '96
Thanks.

(It won't)

(Yes)

(Nope)

Thanks.

Just make sure the tube is really, really clean and smooth just outside the tank before you slide it in the little it needs. There's a rubber seal mounted on the tank that you don't want to gouge up, unless you plan on replacing it (a worthy investment, considering the age). And twisting helps a lot to get the flange oriented.

Thanks for the link larryo340. TheShadow too, that is what started what I found. My seal I think is leaking also and I was getting ready to replace it.
More worried now about the crap I might get in the tank shoving the neck in it and just finding a replacement neck.

It should be the same, but if it doesn't come out, you can loosen the fuel tank straps to get more clearance.
