I read a comment from someone on a forum who stated that 2004 was the best year for the Crown Vic. Now, I happen to own TWO CV's, so I'm naturally interested if this is indeed true, although it won't devastate me to find out otherwise. What do you think? Certainly, it will depend on one's priorities, but overall which is the best year(s) for this venerable machine, and why?

Sounds like you just answered your own question.

2005. Why? Because nobody will agree with me and I own one.

First year with electronic throttle. Only year with whip antenna. Wimpy factory tune according to some. Been a great car in my eyes. nana

No, not even close. Just because my cars are '04's doesn't mean I agree that they are the best year because someone else says so. It rather surprised me, anyway, but it got me to thinking what is the best year. I'm sure people have their opinions and for good reasons. Just wondering...

I would think the definition of best would greatly depend on the use of the vehicle, or the owners intentions. 2004 is considered the "best" year to most because of the following reasons.

-one of the better factory tunes according to some.
-Still a cable throttle unlike the 05
-has the aluminum LCAs like all 03-05's
-doesn't have the potential axel issues that the 03's might have had.
-No "whip" antenna like the 05's

'96/'97 for Aeros. OBDII, Don't drink their oil, newer style intake, no real major issues. The two years are pretty much the same.

early build '03 GMQ for Civilian Whales, new frame and suspension, aren't decontented as much as later years.

'04 CVPI for p71 Whale, larger MAF, new frame and suspension, last year before Drive-By-Wire.

But do you know why people say that? One of the replies listed that a reason was because it didn't have a whip antenna. But I like whip antennas. Still just wonderin'...

04 is the best out the door. Now a friend of mine which is a police officer did tell me that 07+ crown vics are extreamly better. But in my experience and what ive read and herd, 04 hands down.
