I thought it was on here somewhere but just can't find it anymore. What is the gatorback belt for my car? For some reason when I do a search a search on summit racing it does not find one for my car.

Google gave me this result since one of the comments was about a 2000 Vic, and the Amazon "Make Sure It Fits" says it fits your car.

http://www.amazon.com/Goodyear-4060915-G...1&carId=001

I would just get a Motorcraft one though.

I thought gatorback gripped better so it does not slip when you hit 2nd. The one on now keeps screaming when I hit 2nd gear and I want to hear the tires spin.

My 2001 chirped the belt into 2nd bone stock. I thought he meant chirp the tires into 2nd.

With a J-MOD mine has belt slip and tire chirp into 2nd and belt slip into 3rd which is pretty cool hearing it at like 85mph laugh

Well my car can chirp the tires a little going into second but almost always chirps the belt even at normal driving conditions. The belt is a stock motorcraft right now and is not dry rotted just annoying.

Does anyone know the best place to buy a gatorback? I had trouble finding one a month ago.

These are the notes I saved back when I was shopping for one.. hope it helps someone. Sorry to just throw my notes up but I am out the door to work on my blower resister and ALL related parts.

Goodyear Gatorback
4060910 -2003 to 2005
6pk2300 Metric
6 Rib
90.5 Effective Length
91.25 Outside Length

00-04 CVs should be the same length, 6 rib, 91.5" for non-Motorcraft, JK6-922-A for Motorcraft.

Ford Parts
Part Name: Drive Belt
Part Number: 8620 (JK6-914-A)
Part Description: 4.6L; #3W7E 8620-AA

http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1892907

Crown Victoria Gatorback Belts From the GoodYear Website:
4060922 -2006 to 2009
4060910 -2003 to 2005
4060915 -2000 to 2002
4060975 -1995 to 1999 ('95,'96: Police or Tow Package)
4060980 -1993 to 1996 ('95,'96: Exc Police or Tow Package)
4070855 -1992 with Factory AC
4070975 -1992 with Dealer AC
For 1991- Look it up on the Goodyear site, different engines, alternators, AC or not- creates many different choices.

Lol $27 is not horrible. The list price we charge customers for a gates belt at the shop is about $45

When a Gatorback with 90k miles is quieter AND more resistant to squealing at the 1-2 shift than a new Dayco and Gates, that says something about them. I took those others back, they were noisy and squealed every 1-2 shift. I still have that Gatorback on it, over 100k miles, as no one locally carries the Gatorback anymore, the Goodyear stores included (they USED to, and there was a Goodyear other than tires distributor that closed), and I forgot to add it to my last rockauto order. It is weather checked and seriously glazed on the slick side.

So my new Gatorback arrived via Ebay at 23.00 delivered.

The part number matches good! 4060910

The second line says 6pk2310 metric
BUT my research of the part number says it should be 6pk2300 Metric

Does anyone know what the Metric part of the number means?
6pk2310 vs 6pk2300 ????

Goodyear Gatorback for Crown Vic 4060910 -2003 to 2005

My own answer I think,

Gatorback 4060910 Metric 6pk2300
90.5 Effective Length
91.25 Outside Length

Gatorback 4060910 Metric 6pk2310 (the one I bought)
91 Effective Length
91.75 Outside Length (according to goodyear site)

Think motorcraft's Part Number: 8620 (JK6914A) 4.6L; #3W7E 8620-AA
Read somewhere that the 914 part of the Ford part number represents the effective length of the belt. So the motorcraft belt is 91.4 inches is the effective length I think.

So..... in summary

Gatorback 4060910 Metric 6pk2300
90.5 Effective Length

Gatorback 4060910 Metric 6pk2310 (the one I bought)
91 Effective Length

Motorcraft JK6914A
91.4 Effective Length

Wow. Think i'm just gonna stick the stupid belt on and see how it goes!

230.0cm or 231.0cm (910 in the other part number is 91.0 inches)

91.0 inches is 231.14 centimeters

1 cm difference, for a serpentine belt, as long as it isn't too long or short (but is within the belt tensioners travel) isn't a big deal.
