Friend of mine locked the keys in the car and do not have a code to get into the car..A code was never put into the car since purchased back in 05..The car was originally a Ford fleet car back in 05 for 5 months..Is there a standard code issued to every car?

Thanks in advance.

Nope, each car has a random factory code that can not be changed(short of replacing the door module), the owner can add a second code combination of his choosing but that requires the factory code to do so...

The code was usually on the passenger side trunk hinge but that was eliminated sometime in the mid '00s... There will be a sticker that includes code on the module inside the drivers door...

With five buttons there are only 3125 codes, so are repeated fairly often... Still chances are 1 in 3125 that you'll hit the proper sequence on the first shot...

BTW The newer systems go into a disable mode for a few minutes if the wrong code is entered more than five times...

For future use, you may want to do what I do. I hide a spare key in an out of the way location that can be accessed from outside the car, and use duct tape to secure it. The tape completely surrounds it, so it stays dry, and sticks strong enough that there is no chance if it falling out.
You only need a cheap flat key to open the door...no need for the $$$ PATS key (that one is likely already in the ignition).
You may get dirty crawling under the car if you ever need it, but hopefully that will serve as a reminder not to lock the key in the car in the future...:)

Haven't needed to try it but I'm told you can take the VIN # to a dealer and get a new key made [?].

Where is his key pad that goes on his key ring? Yeah, in the car with his key! (They came with 2 of those.)

**I'm old and forgetful (and know it) so I carry a spare key in my pocket for the '97. Also, If I'm gonna drive the '02 or '04, I carry the "key chain" key pad in my pocket. I never hang it on the key ring. Yep, I've locked the key in the car(like last week) but I ain't never been locked out of the car.

Why not copy the entry code onto a sheet of paper and put it into the paperwork (title, insurance policy, etc.) file for your car?

Good idea but the FIRST thing I do when I buy a car with the keypad, is enter a std code I use on all my vehicles... Assuming the battery isn't dead, never gonna be locked out...

I decided to put a code that one can't forget, (there may be one or two that will forget. Just use your date of birth.

I carry a spare key in my wallet, that way if I ever accidentally lock my doors (or someone else does) with the keys in the car, I can still get it without issue.

We've also done this with mom's focus and dad's f150, both use a PATS type key for ignition, but we keep a non-PATS type key at home on the key ring in case the keys would get locked in the car.

Only things I can suggest is he either call the local PD and have them "jimmy" the lock, call a locksmith and have them come out and "jimmy" the lock, or find a wire coat hanger and see if you can "jimmy" the lock yourself.

If you still need to get into the car, I would suggest calling a locksmith, or a reputable towing company. It is a relatively easy car to open, with the right tools. I mean the right lockout tools, not the one Bulldog5_oh recommended. Although that one will work also. :-)
