I'm still in the planning stage but I inherited a 73 F100 with a 390 from my grandfather. I've seen several with the subframe from an 03 up MCM or Vic under them. This lowers the truck a good 6 inches plus modern drivetrain, brakes, steering, and suspension and near bolt in simplicity makes me really want to do this swap. I'm more than aware that this swap will not be without its hurdles, steering, gauges, new fuel and cooling systems etc. what I want to know is would a town car subframe be more or less difficult to modify for an adjustable air bag setup? Are there any major difference between the MCM/Vic chassis and the town car's?

The entire frame, the wheelbase, or the front subframe?

Town cars are 6 inches longer. What are you looking to do? Rat Rod, kustom, just drop the frame? What are your plans?

I just want a solid reliable driver to start. The body is in good shape and I'd like to keep it original but the bed is shot so paint is in its future and I haven't decided yet. I'd like to just do a flat black kinda ratish for now, but eventually just a restomod keeping the two tone scheme just change the colors from brown and cream to blue and silver. I want airride, not so low I can lay frame or anything silly like that but just to have it nice and low. I was curious if the town cars had air suspension in the front too or just the rear, and if so would that make it easier or more difficult to install and adjustable aftermarket air bag setup?

Town cars only have air springs in the back. The front is a regular SLA suspension w/ coils.

Thanks. Is the subframe longer too or is that 6 inches made up elsewhere? I just want to know that I can look at or avoid a town car when I go looking for a donor.

Yes the front engine subframe or cradle ok k-member etc, that part is essentially a bolt in for all the 60's and 70's ford trucks.
