I have an 02 Marquis. One of my airbags went so I decided to switch to coils in fear of having to replace the air compressor or the other air bag next.

I got a set of coils off a 2001 P71 at pickNpull for $40.

Installation went smooth and my car is riding smooth as butter once again. I like how it feels through a turn now. My car kind of feels more agile.

Now I just need to find out how to disable the 'check air suspension' light.

Can somebody explain how to do this on a 2002?

People say you can either remove the ABS fuse(bad idea obviously unless you like it without) because it's shared with the air suspension. Or you can remove the dash bulb or cover its area with opaque tape such as electric tape, I haven't really heard of any other alternatives to that. Mine has been on for so long I forget it's there usually but I would still like it to go away for a lightless dash the way it was intended, I'll probably take the bulb out when I do the 140 dash swap

There is a specific wire that runs to a connector that can be accessed behind the glove box after you remove it.

I have details somewhere... I think maybe. But I'm not home.

Basically it boils down to cutting that one wire or removing it and it's pin from the connector.

I also know this has been hashed out here on CVN before...

Behind the glovebox you'll find the electronic variable power steering control module which also moonlights as the air suspension module. On that, you'll find 2 connectors, 1 of which will have a dark green wire with a light green tracer. Cut that wire, and forget it was ever there.

BigMerc, My grandfather has a 2001 towncar and behind the glovebox its not the same as our cars. That's why I wrote up top that I don't think its the same.

I also read somewhere that disabling the light on my model/year isn't the same as other panthers.

Found this says 2000 towncar. Should be for 98-02

Simply cut the dark green with the light green stripe wire and put some black tape on each end. Afterwards, turn the suspension switch back on. If done correctly, you will NEVER see a light again. Lmao, yeah you did. I didnt even notice when i posted this up what color it said. i just saw 2000 towncar lol. either way the reason I said it wasnt the same was because when i tried to disable it on the 2001, and could not find the same wire??

Should be the same on a '96, at least it was on my '97 Town Car.

easiest wire cut I've done to date.
96 CV
open glove box, drop glove box door all the way down.
straight ahead against HVAC box is the module....gray connector and black connector...
the DG/LG wire is right in the center of the black connector with plenty of "slack" to cut and tape.

p.s. one thing I ALWAYS do when I convert air-to-coils, is leave ALL of the air ride equipment "intact" in case the next owner wants to convert back. what I mean is, I dont cut the solenoid wires or air lines...I disconnect them and zip-tie them up out of the way. this also includes leaving enough room on the cut wire for someone to re-solder/re-splice it back together.

lifted car, release solenoids, removed upper retaining clip, removed from rear-end housing, removed lower shock bolt, installed coils, re-attached lower shock bolt, cut wire and turned switch back on.

about a 20 minute job....and the car sits/rides perfect.

I went with a progressive rate spring...they came with a multi-language instruction sheet to cut the wire and which part of the coil is the 'top'.

bought them through my local NAPA store.

wanted to go with Eddie at American Air but my customer needed this done in a 24 hour period and couldn't afford the extra shipping to get them here that fast.
