Hey you guys! I just recently did the 06 cluster swap on my 2005 cvpi(write up coming soon) After the PCM swap I got the p0174 and p0171 that I cant get rid of. Car runs like normal. Long term fuel trim is at around 25 on both banks. Can it be a calibration issue or incompatible sensors? I am planning on swapping the FPDM since its different. Any help is appreciated!

Is there any other work you've done under the hood while you were swapping out PCM's? With both banks running lean and recent parts swaps, I'm thinking along the lines of a vacuum leak.

as I am not familiar with the DBW cars, are the 05 and 06 mafs the same?

Before I did the PCM swap no check engine light was on. As soon as I swapped it a few miles later it came on with lean codes. I don't hear any vacuum leaks anywhere. The engine idles and drives like normal.

I've checked the MAF part numbers and they're the same. I was thinking about the fuel injectors. It doesn't have the same part number.

if the 06 pcm is set to use 24lb injectors vs the 19lb 05 ones that could be why it is throwing codes

The pictures they have on RockAuto for 2005 have a red or orange piece(19#) - 5W7Z9F593AA

and the ones they have for 2006 have a blue piece(24#) - 6W7Z9F593AA

They have different part numbers as well, just the first 2 numbers are different. If they were the same and the '06 part just superseded the '05 part number as an update they would have the '06 part number listed for '05's

The first 4 characters can be used to determine the year 5 (05) and 6 (06). The next 5 are the actual part number and last 2 indicate either calibration or revision.

Having said that, injectors should be the same according to the above information. I'll still check the manual to confirm.

Oscar.

If injectors are different size the fuel pump would likely compensate at lower speeds but probably not be able to deliver enough volume(pressure) at higher throttle...

Thats interesting!
As far as I know fuel pumps are the same from 2003 to 2011.
So I think the pump wont make any issues!

Fuel rail pressure is around 45-40 psi. The lowest I've seen is around 39 psi so I think its not a pressure issue. There's something that's letting air in the intake.

I don't think that is the case, it's the difference between drinking through a small straw vs a large straw . . if the pcm is saying that max fuel is being needed, a small straw will never provide as much fuel as a larger one.

50lbs of pressure on a 19lb injector is going to be considerably less fuel than the same amount of pressure on a 24lb injector

DING, DING, DING!
We need someone to confirm whether they used 24# injectors in '06+
I asked stlvic if he had put in 24# injectors when I saw his car this summer because they have that blue piece on them which would indicate a 24# injector, he said they were stock.
I have the stock injectors from my '05 in the garage and a set of 24's so i can compare them tomorrow.

On the '03-up returnless fuel systems voltage is varied to the pump to maintain proper A/F ratio, pump doesn't run one constant speed as in the return type system.... Sooo if smaller injectors were used the control circuit would be calling for max voltage at WOT but system would be lean...

A leak in the intake system would have to be between the MAF and throttle body, any leak afterwards would cause excessive idle speed...
