My 2001 CVPI has the obvious signs of misfiring. Shaking, rough idle, flashing CEL but no codes on the scan tool. I'm not sure how to determine which cylinder, or cylinders are misfiring. I can't drive it and need it for work so any help is appreciated. I have spare coils to swap in if that helps. I just don't know how to figure out which cylinder it is. Thanks guys!

Check the plug wells and see which one has oil or antifreeze pooled in it.

Let it idle and pull Connector at coils off one at a time. It should make motor miss or run rough. If one doesn't sound different when pulled then good chance that's it. Then replace with spare coil. Check plug next. Before removing plug suck plug well with vac or blow with air to remove debris first. Listen for each injector with hollow metal tube for ticking if coils and plugs are ok. Hope this helps and good luck.

Looks like you have a wiring problem on the drivers side. Those codes mean there likely an open or a short in the wiring to those cylinders.

That P0205 is a wiring issue to a cylinder also affected by a wiring problem above.

How would I find or fix it?

I think the wiring for those cylinders comes from wires under the brake master cylinder on the brake booster. There is large harness connectors that lead to back of driver valve cover and then to each cop. Look for chafed, worn or harness laying on valve cover and grounded or burnt through. Their should be a common color wire that goes to each cop, red with light green stripe I believe. Could be wrong on color. Have to track that wire for damage. Shorts are hard to find, good luck.
