SO I am hooking up some trailer lights kit. Following the instructions with the kit I have one blown fuse. Just wondering if any one knows which wires I need to hook up to. I need left turn signal wire color, right turn signal wire color, and brake/taillight.
I see only three color wires going to the 2 bulbs on each side. black, brown and a stripe wire. Help would be greatly appreciated

Before you go much further, is this a lighting adaptor/isolator box you are wiring? Did you get the correct one? They make them for separate turn signal and brake lights, and they make them for combined turn/brake lights. (with regards to the towing vehicle. They also make these adaptors to spit out separate turn and stop lights if that is how your trailer is setup.) And of course, some will accomodate any combination.
If you are just wiring in a flat-4. Ignore this post for now. But if your lights go funky, then you will need one of the above adaptors.
Alex.

http://www.hopkinstowingsolutions.com/pr...olid_state.htmlThis is what I got and I wired it just like bellwestern 80 suggested and it still blew the fuse in the fusebox under the left side of the steering column. I went back to check right behind the taillight where the nuts are holding the taillight in place the wire going in to the left and right turn signals is the same color (orange wire with blue stripe). I will try connecting it again, perhaps I screwed up the wires. Its a little weird that the striped wires on both taillights I thought were the same striped color. GM-Guy I did call the distributor asking if this one would work because it stated on the box that it was for vehicles with separate turn signal and stop/taillight combination.

That is pretty straight forward, just don't connect the small red wire. =-)
Verify your ground is good, and double check your wiring, if it is blowing fuses you may just have a bad convertor.

Thank you for your help. I must have not gotten a good connection because when I did it the second time it's working like it should.
