That's right, it's time. It's time the daily drivers/work horses have their own poll! We may not get the front page, but screw it, why not? Rules are the same as POTM, except the starting date will be different. Submissions will be taken until the 28th. Voting will start on the 28th and go until the 31st. First fifteen valid entries make it. And remember folks, the point is BEATER of the month!

The mission: Buy a gear hauler for the band. The car selected for the job: 1994 Caprice Classic wagon The motor: LT1 V8 The mileage: 202k Working options: A/C, dual-action tailgate, power windows, power locks, dual front power seats, power antenna, AM/FM/tape, wipers, lights, pretty much everything. Work performed: I filled the gas tank and put two new rear shocks on the car. Nagging issues that I'll probably never care enough to fix: digital dash cuts out from time to time, digital odometer has a mind of its own sometimes, passenger rear window sometimes works but usually doesn't, various leaks. Nagging issues that I'll address in a hilariously stupid way: Rust. I plan to pop rivet some sheet metal in place and beat it into submission with a hammer. Then I'm planning to spraybomb the whole car with cheap-ass spray paint and give it a '77ish Trans Am look. The best part? The purchase price: $600When I picked it up: The first cosmetic mod was to black out the grille: RU65Yet followed me back home in my '04 GMQ, so as a reward I allowed him to sit in the 3rd row seat. It is a very comfortable place to drink a beer. I painted the wheels, too. They were pretty rusty.

meh to TA scheme. That sounds like way too much work for a $600 beater. I want it to look stupid and awful, like the car is.

This is a $600 beater. Personal pride level: very low.

It is a very comfortable place to drink a beer. Yes, that does the job! My wife (& I?) have a $900 '92 Buick Roadmaster Wagon, mucch like that. What a battlewagon! We've had to put a tranny and a steering column in it, plus annoying little GM-things that wear out or break for no good reason, like multi-function control switches, etc. but overall you just can't kill the thing... you can't keep exhaust manifold gaskets in it either, they last about 2 months before they blow out again. Next time, it's getting headers... I just had to put an aftermarker cruise on the car because one of the multiplicity of electronic modules somewhere quit and it's essentially not fixable, between finding the culprit and finding a working one somehere - good luck... So we drive with the speedo on the GPS and now we have a cruise too. Fully equipped! Truth be told, these beaters are some of the most FUN vehicles because you don't live in fear of damaging them, you just drive the wheels off 'em - twice. Need an accessory or an upgrade? Just hack a hole in the cowl and run that wiring! Nobody cares... so long as it keeps on keepin' on.

Lets get the ball rolling! I know there are more then just two beaters on here so post em up! This will be my Final entry of the 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis into beater of the month as I am taking her off the road this saturday and selling or scraping it shortly after. 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. 191 xxx KM Owned for two years and four months. Driven everyday. Full power options , leather interior , 2.73 rear and single exhaust, all stock except the tinted windows. Both front fenders rotted out , Front passenger frame rotted , rockers rotted , rear air bags removed and poverty coils installed ,Battery light comes on every day , Has miss on at least two cylinders which causes major shuttering going up hills and during acceleration. Dent in the fender and cracked passenger marker light from where idiot hit and run driver backed into me at the gas station. Cars interior is near mint and all options work flawlessly but car is rotten. Two owner car that was neglected before my time. I took these pics today on my way home from work. Car parked in front of STAP. The pictures really don't do justice to how bad the condition of the car is. The paint is faded and worn. The bondo job I did over the two front fenders is rusted through and cracking off and the car is covered in dust from the parking lot at work and bird crap. with miss matched paint I used on the front fenders leftover from my 92 Oldsmobile cutlass ciera. If anyone on CVN wants it ( I doubt it) for parts or a derby car or the interior PM me.
