I have an Innovia 3130. It won't give me live data anymore. I don't know how old it is .I got it used. Can it be repaired? If not which one should I get? I want to scan A.B.S. and S.R.S. and of course live data. There are so many out there I'm confused. Thanks for any help.

The one I use is only $30 total and it does all the live data as well as codes but I don't believe it does A.B.S.

It might not be exactly what you're looking for but here you go. It's worked very well for codes, for me.

Frankie, if you're going to spend $100 or more anyway, check out the ScanGauge II. I own one, and can highly recommend it. Not sure about ABS or SRS on it though, but here is a link to their site:

http://www.scangauge.com/

You can buy direct from them, as well as Amazon and probably eBay.

Good Luck!

Looks interesting, what app do you use for your phone with it?

i use the pro Torque app. the pro is $5 plus the ~$22 for the scanner. you can still use the free version but you are limited to only codes, I think.

I got the autel md802. It will run you about 250-300 on Amazon. But I promise you it will do everything you want and more. I can pull the door codes from the DDM with it, all the eatc tests, cluster tests, PCM tests.

It does airbag and ABS codes as well as all OBD codes. Best scanner I have ever bought. Updates are free for first year $99.00 a year after that. But the updates only tend to be for newer model cars, so until you buy a 2014/2015 vehicle, Id skip the updates or at least only do every few years.

Autel MD802 4-system here. So far so good. If you opt for this one, get/upgrade to the All System.

Quasar, is the DDM and other scan modules separate files in the unit? I'd like to try something.

Alex.

My experience with Autel hasn't been all that great. I got their AL439, which is a basic code reader/scanner that includes a voltmeter and starting and charging system tests. The starting and charging system tests don't seem to have ever worked properly. Both tests tell me there is "excessive noise" (which causes the starting test not to measure anything). I recall that the AC voltmeter worked fine when checking a 16V AC adapter, but I got weird results when trying to measure AC ripple.

Their customer service was absolutely useless. I ended up exchanging the unit twice but got the same results. I don't recall the timing, but I've tested two alternators that I have and tried the unit on at least one other person's car. Both of my alternators seem to be working fine, and I even confirmed for at least one of them that the diodes weren't leaking. I ultimately kept the latest unit since it was still a lot better than what else I could've gotten for the same money (about $90 CDN plus taxes when it was on sale for half price).

When updating it (at no cost), there was a program file and a data file. I think I did the program file first, and everything came up in Chinese. I navigated through the menus from memory to update the other file, and the English came back. IIRC, I still got the same results from the starting and charging tests.

Based on my experiences, I'm not at all impressed with Autel, though it's interesting to read other people's experiences.

EDIT: I just did an update for s's&g's with two English files. Now some of the messages are in Spanish even though it's set for English. wtf2

I think so yes. mine is the all systems version, its not under OBD but its all under the scan section. You start a new scan. It pulls the vin and vehicle info then gives you the abilty to scan all the modules or to pick through the list of modules. (Sorry i dont have it with me at moment for exact wording).

Ipreferdiy, my md802 doesnt have that feature of the electrical testimg, but that does sound frustrating. I will absolutely agree and say that the weakest link of this scan tool is the update process. It is slow and tedious but once its updated it has been great.

Has anyone used the OBDLink LX bluetooth reader?
Here's the link: https://www.scantool.net/obdlink-lx.html

I was thinking of using this to get real-time readouts for MPG and RPMs (sadly my '05 doesn't have a tach). Also checking and clearing check engine lights. Would be cool to hook this up to a tablet and mount it on my dash!

I use an Ultragauge for those things, and more... Ultragauge
