Nice! I love Bowling Green, hit that place when the AMRA Harley drags are going on in conjunction with a big rally ride they hold the same weekend, it's a party of epic proportions! Here I am lining up a 69 ironhead Harley I ride for a guy, my best run is a 9.84 @ 138 though now I run on a 9.90 index in the SG/E class. It's wild to think a big cv is running me down on the big end in mph...

had the converter loosened up down low so I could footbrake some decent 60's, and got a new best 1/8 ET for the car! Previous best was a 6.44@111, that was the same pass it went 9.96@139 on. I have confidence it can go a little quicker, just gotta work on my launches and wait for really cool weather!

First pass made like 6psi at launch; but had to abort because it instantly annihilated the tires. This pass was leaving on 3-4psi.

I believe mid to high 1.40s are possible when I play with a few things, and follow some big tire cars down the track. I hate excuses, but I'll say this. I've seen the track hook better.

New personal best in the 1/8! Made a few suspension changes and progressed timing into the car after launch. (Pulled 10* at the hit and progressed in over 2.5 seconds). I'm sure I'm getting close to the limit of what this setup will do. 21-22psi average, great AFs, I couldn't be happier!

Threw a rod on the next pass, gonna get it apart and see what broke, and try again! I think some rings butted. Block is toast, hopefully cam is good!

Cam, congrats on the passes! Those videos were amazing! I can't help but think how many junkyard 5.3s you have gone through so far however. Whats your reasoning for sticking with the junkyard setup rather than building a 5.3 with a decent rotating assembly?

I know those 5.3s can make power for damn near nothing though! When in doubt 5.3 and china turbo!

This is my 4th. And if I can't get a stock bottom end to live for a while, there's no way I'm gonna try my hand on a built motor. Lol. I had $350 in this bottom end. If I get 40 passes out of something like that, and a couple thousand street miles, and I become a better tuner (learn something from it), then I'm for it. I'd be on suicide watch right now if I just blew up a forged motor.

The only thing I'm worried about now is the cam, which was $25 more than my bottom end. I already have a line on an aluminum 5.3 that I'm gonna try and do some horse trading for (I offered to build him a transmission and do some sort of trade), that would save me some money, and cost me some time to build a trans for the guy.

I've watched some friends build LS motors, and they have told me/I have watched, that's where the fun stops. Say they have an issue, spin some bearings, lift a head, etc then they're out $3000-$4000. If I have those kinda problems, I get on Craigslist or ask around and find another junkyard motor. And also because I don't have the money to throw at a built motor right now, but $500 here or there (every couple years) isn't a big deal. All my cars are paid off, so it's just like a car payment for a month or so. Lol

Got the car back together! Made a couple changes this time, bigger engine (still stock bottom end) and bigger turbos.

6.0, twin on3 7065 turbos, eBay air to water, 4L80e, Jake's performance triple disk. This was the best pull. 21psi average, 12*.

884/800 torque. Pulls were with the converter locked.

Holy crap! That's amazing for a stock bottom end. When do you think you'll be able to take it to the 1/4? May?

Not a sure. I'm really leaning towards not going to the 1/4 again until I get a cage in it, which will be soon.
