I just got my BRAND NEW P71! (OK, it's a '96 but it's new to me.) I bought it at auction a month ago for $725, and my mechanic has had it since. He has done the following: It drives like a dream and feels like a new car. Yay! Nice car! Especially for one from the rust belt... But white lettered tires on a family sedan? Unique...

My garage looks like a chop shop right now. Lots of work over the weekend. -Calipers redone -New brake lines -POR 15'd by suspension -Bled my Brakes my myself -inspected my rear end and all suspension components (good reports there) Sadly, I am waiting on my rotors and pads. I was sent the wrong ones and didn’t know it until yesterday when I went to put it together. The old rotors are on there as a place holder while I painted my calipers. since I was doing it with a foam brush it was easier to do it on the caliper brackets. Hoping to get the new ones tomorrow. Also had to order new lug nuts from Rock Auto as the chrome capped factory ones were mushroomed and about 5 of them took a hammer to beat the socket on the lug nut. On a side note, I found rust in my rockers and had to get my body man over to cut it out weld in a small patch. I cleaned that up and POR 15'd it. Thank God for the plastic rocker covers. if not for those I would have had a lot more involved in fixing my rockers. since you can't see them, they are now painted POR 15 black. This car is rust free otherwise as far as I can tell. It was a low mileage, but a Minnesota car and I bought it as a winter car before I fell in love with it, so now I am commited to making it never rust beyond repair. Already spent a pretty penny on that endeavor but I think I got it all now.

Wanted it to look as little like a cop car as possible. Goofy, yes, but not a cop car. Wife doesn't want me to get shot; I drive the speed limit and don't want folks to collect behind me on the freeway. Prolly will add a "Not a cop" bumper sticker.
Last night I got a flat, took the tire to WalMart and was told that it was not repairable (on a tire that had 40 miles of wear). I bought a new tire (my mechanic happened to have one handy), and bummed a spare from a friend to use for getting the car back home. Yes, a spare is on its way.
Today I got the new tire mounted and balanced, and had the car aligned and inspected. The steering column bearing was shot and my mechanic replaced it. It is secure and safe, but there's a touch of play in the steering wheel. The perhaps over-scrupulous inspector red-flagged it. Sigh. But I *did* get to drive it - gosh what a nice feel it has!
Oh, and first fill-up: topped it up for $30.

Funny you should remark about the photo (thanks!): it's actually two photos, composited together (I have a side business retouching photos). The one I took of the car was sharp, but the one my wife took of me behind the car had some camera motion. So I took myself and the open door and placed 'em behind the original car. An astute observer will note that there is far too little of me showing through the windshield. Wishful thinking on my part...
Is it poor form to post a link to my website?

Got its replacement, so it can hopefully not take a dirt nap but be rehabilitated. 2017 Escape SE, 1.5L Ecoboost fwd, 201a package for the Sync 3, halogen projector headlights. I couldn't justify the titanium, or the 2.0 Ecoboost. Wife wanted a Rav4, but I think the Escape blows it away. I liked the 2017 Fusion SE with the 2.0 Ecoboost 1000x better, much quieter refined car, but we had to join the masses and get it. My wife was looking at an S that was used for a golf tournament (so 1000 off), but the 2.5 is really loud in not a good way, and while Sync matches what I have already (Pandora and turn by turn from my phone), Sync 3 is nice. It came with Nav (I didn't want it), so we got them to take off 1000 bucks, it felt like a win even though I know it wasn't one.

Got its replacement, 2017 Escape SE, 1.5L Ecoboost fwd, 201a package for the Sync 3, halogen projector headlights. Nice car truck vehicle! My son has an Escape with the 3.0 V6 and really loves it. He didn't trust a 4 cylinder, even a turbocharged one, to pull a 16 foot Scamp trailer... so he opted for a left-over 2012 or 2013 (I think) model.

Swapped in an old CD player into the 85. At first only the rear speakers were working, but after a few minutes only the RR speaker works. Oh well, at least now I can control the volume.

Well, I was going to change the water pump. Stopped by Autozone and got the tools and gasket, only to get home and discover that I have no freaking clue where the water pump is. (In the garage, that is. I know where it is on the engine ) I know where it used to be, before my mad "clean up" to keep the wife from calling 1-800-GOT-JUNK on me. Looked through nearly every box in the garage, pulled everything out, the garage looks about like it did before. Have to get that fixed before she returns... Even more frustrating, I found a bunch of stuff that was in the same box, but alas the pump still eludes me. I have to get it done, so I'll have to buy another one. If it turns up, I guess I'll list it here.
