Hello all, I recently purchased a 2011 CV PI and to my surprise it did not have cruise control installed. I've read that all I need to do is purchase a steering wheel with CC and have a ford dealer update the cars computer and on the other hand I heard I need a new steering wheel as well as a aftermarket cruise control kit then, get a dealer to update the computer. Has anyone done either of these methods before? Would appreciate any help, Thanks.....Danny

You need the steering wheel with cruise buttons(or full control buttons will work as well) and a trip to the dealer to have them turn it on in the computer.
You can put the wheel on before so all they need to do is hook your car up to the computer and turn on cruise, or pay the extra for them to put the wheel on.
It takes maybe 15 minutes to turn cruise on but you are generally charged a flat rate of $100 to hook up to the computer, if you talk to the people doing it or the service manager, you may just pay for the actual time needed rather than 1 hour.
Other option is to find a cruise wheel and computer from another 2011 CVPI and do it all yourself, this may cause issues at inspection time because your VIN won't match the computer.

Option two is to get the deluxe wheels with RSC from LC, LTC or MGM, which are leather covered and sometimes with wood. Radio controls for the Premium head unit can be connected by adding a wire to the clock spring. Adding EATC and getting steering wheel control to work is doable but a different proposition. I prefer manual A/C.

A 2011 may already have the wire from clockspring to radio.

Could be true. However, 2011 with standard radio (no CDP) will not have the premium connector, which can be swapped in with splice or an adapter.

Will this work for a 2007 without factory cruise control?

So it is off with the old, on with the new and I assume a cable to plug in and and then off to the dealer to activate?? Now to find a steering wheel with the cc buttons.

Thanks!
