well? subject says it all.

My best time was a 15.86. I have 2.73's. I'm getting 3.55's with my tax returns.

What will adding the 3.55's do for my times? a couple tenths?

Just wondering if it will be worth the several hundred dollars I would pay

Gears will make LESS of an effect than better tires will.

I think it would also be a wise idea to get an MMC driveshaft along with the 3.55's, Matt.

What gears have you currently got on?

at first without tires the gears may raise your times.. open diff with them with worn or the wrong tire will actually make traction worse, not better...

In theory its a tenth or two .. in real life it will come down to tires.. and the best bet is to use positraction.. trac-lok ,,,, see Metro and his past posts on his car...

with good tires and LSD you would run 15.5 secs.

Getting rid of those 20" chrome's will also cut your 1/4 mile, they weigh a LOT. What kind/size of tires are you running?

Did you have any traction problems?

even with my peg-leg and 215's i didn't spin too much(albeit you've got more power than i do), and now with my trac-lok and new tires, if the trac is prepped right i doubt i'll make em spin without powerbraking.

Yeah Ron is right. they squealed A LOT at first, but that's because my dumbass drove right through the water pit.

After that, i started doing small 2 second burnouts at the line to dry the tires. With the weak azz 2.73's, they barely spin at all.

I would opt to 4.10 it will cost you the same and some decent tires will make some improvemet on your times.
with the 4.10 you will have more fun smoking the tires.
Gas milage will drop too..

STFU n00b

You go put 4.10s in YOUR car before recommending it to someone else.

4:10 is too high for a car like this if it is going to be used as a daily driver. You would need a mmx driveshaft w/taleshaft extension as well. Your top speed and milage would drop a descent sum as well. You would also be running higher rpm's as well so extra tranny and a bit more engine wear as well depending on how and where you drive.
