Welcome to CVN!

Paint is the only big issue with these cars as far as I'm concerned.

If you haven't yet, just a few things I wish I'd done earlier:

Check the FEAD (belt, tensioner and pulley system) for play and wear, these cars usually idled a TON in their past life. Mine has over 12000 idle hours, an hour being equal to ~33 miles of driving, that's 396K on the FEAD. Not counting the 127K on the clock.

Intake manifolds fail pretty easily on these cars, don't go with the Dorman unit if you can help it. You'll lose HP and TQ.

Replace the front 02 sensors, check the driver and passenger floor for rot above the cats.

Also check the steering shafts for play, looseness and wear. There was a recall on a ton of them, more than a few people lost complete steering input due to them dropping out of the column. I actually found a report of a Cranston officer crashing into the median on rt. 37 less than 2 miles from my house.

I'd highly recommend changing out the trans fluid and switching to a pan with a drain plug asap, just to avoid any issues. Consider a J-mod as well while you're in there.

Good luck with your Vic! I'm sure she'll serve you well for many years to come.

Welcome. I recently picked up a cherry 07 Grand Marquis and have been enjoying it thoroughly. Best of luck with your Vic.
