So I am currently looking into buying a custom guage fave for my 01 LXS. Could not help but notice i can have it in 140 layout, Floorshift face style/fount. Id like to do this but dont know how to addjust the speedometer reading for this. Would also like to know how deep of a money hile ill need to dig, for the simple revonfigure. Was hoping I could swap my VSS Gear but i dont think that will work.

All replys are apprecieated thanks laugh

John

It would be considerably easier just to yank a police speedometer if you want a 140 MPH readout than trying to re-calibrate the 120 MPH civilian one.

The only downside is your mileage wouldn't be correct unless you found a cluster with similar mileage.

Police speedometers can be had from the salvage yards, and assuming your yards don't price stuff out the tail, you could probably have one for well under $50.

The only difference is the inclusion of the PRND21 at the bottom. If you were to remove just the speedometer head out of the entire cluster, you wouldn’t have some errant needle just hanging out. Plus, if you’re having a custom gauge face made up, that would cover those markings up once it’s all said and done.

There’s been a few members who have had similar mods done.

I'm getting ready to do this swap. How did you finally end up doing the odometer? Rolling the new one or reusing the odo from your old gauge cluster?
